Anyone else annoyed by exposed joints?

nope, doesnt bother me. if i wanted a static figure in pose, i'd be getting statues.

ACTION
figure.

Joints never bothered me. The only ones I normally have an issue with are wrist joints where they are bent unnaturally (normally a result from bad posing). Either than that, I have no issues with joints showing.

Really doesn't bother me at all. Obviously, some exposed joints are better designed than others and are not as distracting.

Doesn't bother me. In fact, I kind of like the joints. But even if I didn't, as others have said, immovable rubber that's gonna deteriorate isn't something I care much for. Fortunately, you've got the statues option.

No, it doesn't bother me. I prefer exposed joints so I'll know my figures won't melt after a certain period of time.

For the most part, I'm not a fan of exposed joints, but at the same time, I dislike the rubber bodies that are likely to deteriorate over time.

Two joints that bother me the most are exposed elbow joints (except for those from the Wolverine/Comedian body), and exposed neck joints. I'm glad that more and more figures with exposed necks are using the sculpted neck bodies now.

Surprisingly though, I thought Hot Toys did a great job with the Avatar Sully figure, given that so many joints are shown. It looks great and a rubber body doesn't look to be used.

I like statues. However, what I really want is no exposed joints, the ability to pose my figures, AND figures with clothing made of material vs sculpted clothing.

Yeah, I have my cake and I want to eat it too.

The problems in life I tell you...

I guess roughly a quarter to a third here prefer hidden joints. Maybe the technology will come along in a few years... and I'm sure HT would then release new versions. :)

That said... I prefer hidden joints, but exposed joints certainly aren't a deal breaker. I'm waiting on my Bruce Lee DX to arrive, and I have a preorder on Jake Sully! :yess:
But his jointed feet puzzle me. Not sure why they went that route... I'm hoping to better pose him riding a Toruk...

I love the joints. It's what got me into the hobby. I wouldn't buy an action figure without joints.

It doesn't really bother too bad but I do try to pose them so you can't see the joints anyway.

Unfortunately for now there is no really good alternative. rubber bodies are not that good alas. I only have Machiko with arm exposed joints and I added some cool black cover for elbows.

I love joints, because that means that is articulated, and not a statue :wink1:

If you do'nt like joints.. try statues instead :monkey1

Abdomen cuts... but thankfully HT avoids those on figures meant to be shirtless.

I would be collecting statues... but they're not even half as well-painted, tailored, and sculpted as HT figures.

Unless HT starts using a type of rubber to cover up the joints that wont rot or leak I'll take the ugly joints 9 times out of 10. That being said, HT has gotten better at hiding joints on figures over the last few years. Look at the newer Predator bodies compared to the older ones.

Can't stand the joints. I understand the need for them, but yeah, I hate seeing them exposed. Ruins the illusion that an otherwise incredibly detailed figure is going for.

How can people who hate joints so much get into collecting action figures? HT is doing a great job of hiding the joints of the Predator bodies - and removing about a dozen articulation points from them at the same time. Also, the rubber bodies are a poor alternative because, durability issues aside, they restrict a lot of articulation.
Come on, wrist joints? Of all the joints you had to have a problem with the smallest ones? I know they have a lot more chance of being exposed than most other joints, but it's a great thing to have ball-jointed wrists. And there hasn't been any better alternative to that IMO.
In short: I'm okay with the joints being shown, I don't mind them at all.

The only time I personally looked at a figure & thought that looks a bit ugly was with my BL Dx body, so I clothed both the bodies up, problem solved ;) but seriously probably 90% of figures don't really have exposed joints anyway, so I've never seen it as a major issue. I never include wrist joints & arm joints, they don't really bother me but back to BL I just thought he looked a bit to much but at the same time I'd prefer him to come as he is because he's a figure who definitely needs articulation but one of my top 3 all time figures is King Leonidas but if he came with exposed joints like BL, it wouldn't of ruined him for me but he definitely wouldn't of had the wow factor which he does now but that's the only figure of over 50 I own were I'd want a seamless body. The Preds, I don't even notice there joints & think Jake Sully looks awesome to. It'll be interesting to see HT new seamless body though & how it holds up.
