Anyone else ever get satisfaction out of smashing electronics that don't work?

I've thrown my cell phone several times, but I try to watch doing that because I'm too poor to break it. Sometimes I settle for squeezing it instead. And there were a number of times I wanted to take my lap top and either throw it like a frisbee out the door, smash it on the ground, or slam it against the edge of the desk.

you got the skills to isolate it down to the component level, maybe setup an ICT fixture to measure for opens and shorts, and put your soldering skills to use to replace the problem part, over a $40 piece of electrical magic?

I'm impressed. I'd rather just smash it.

Kind of a geeky story but, when i was about 10 or 9..my best friend and i used to beat the shhhhit out of old car radio/cassette decks with bats pretending it was Johnny Five from Short Circuit, even mocking the character while we beat these things in lol!.

I need find pics of what I did with my first XBOX the power supply burnt out on it so I purchased one from ebay or Microsoft I can't remember since it's been such a long time and then I went ahead and purchased a chip to solder onto it to be able to access the firmware and all the MS code. Then I basically replaced the whole darn case, light features, etc...

I can use it as my own tivo, watch rip movies, play ripped games and have a greater storage space whenever I replace the 10 gig hard drive with a 500 gig back in the day whenever that was huge.

edit: or even play old school Nintendo games, Sega games, Atari games, etc... on the first XBOX

Maybe this belongs in Eli's RAGE thread, but I know that I have a habit of dealing with a POS electronic for a short while, give it the benefit of doubt, try and try again to work with it, but once I'm frustrated past my boiling point, I smash the piece of ____ in a variety of methods.


I've been having an ongoing issue with my router AND my internet connection. Think the problem is on both ends. I have two routers that I swap in order to diagnose the problem and I noticed that with a certain one, it causes the internet to come in and out, which is probably the most frustrating experience I've dealt with. So tonight, after having dealt with it for over a year, I calmly unplugged it, and smashed that ____er against my desk. Then I stomped it with my bare heel a few times.

I've also taken a hammer to a piece of ____ cell phone that sucked so bad, and was also so old that donating it wasn't an option. NOTE: I calmly removed the SIM card before smashing it.

and I've thrown a DVD player that just kept skipping and eating/scratching DVD's on the floor in my garage and smashed it in little pieces.


It's not like I go around breaking stuff in my home at random, I do take care of my stuff, but with electronics, after I finally realize and admit that it truly is a piece of crap not worthy of existing, I do get some sort of sick satisfaction out of smashing the crap out of it after having causing me months/years of frustration.



Is this just me? Should I seek help?

Okay, well I did destroy my PC (with great pleasure) after I got my Mac. I figured since my PC was crap and didn't work I had nothing to lose, and you know what, after all the money and BS that I endured into that machine, I was glad to kill it. DIE YOU HORRIBLE MOFO!
