Anyone else thinking of sticking with Hot Toys exclusively for their 1/6 needs?

I just get whatever appeals to me. HT, medi, Enterbay, takara, SS, whoever. Yes, HT certainly has a very high quality with their products but most of their stuff doesn't interest me. Right now only P1, hellboy and IM3 picks my interest and not much else.

Plus, I dunno, some SS figures compared to HT figures look too "toyish". Especially some of the headsculpts. Since HT headsculpts are much more detailed.

I dunno why anyone would have to get rid of their current figures to stay with just HT. I know i'm not getting rid of my other figs, I'm talking about future purchases. What is this line of thought?

I said it because others have talked this way, plus if they can't complete their line, they don't want any of the figures. You hear this alot in the LotR section. I think it's silly.

I'm not going with anyone exclusively. It just depends on what they're making.

Hot Toys, yeah they do great figures, but their customer service issues as well as their fragility leaves a lot to be desired. I've had way more problem with Hot Toys than with Sideshow. I'd rather see them fix their issues, rather than let them roll onto new releases.

Sideshow is a company for the fans. Hot Toys isn't as transparent, with them you get what you pay for, and that's quite a sum, so what I get from them is what I expect. More actually, so I don't hold them in as high esteem as most fans.

Hot Toys all the way for me. Until the next contender takes the belt.

I'll pick up SS figures where there's room for improvement and send their sculpts off to painters and switch bodies, I'll continue to kit bash figures together for that next chris howes sculpt on the way but honestly, it's so nice and relieving when a homerun from Hot Toys comes and you can just buy the figure and be done with it.

Sideshow just needs to hand over all of their 1:6 licensing and manufacturing to Hot Toys and focus on PF's and Dioramas.

I buy some stuff from Sideshow, depending on the license. They definitely are still king of the PF and statue market... nobody does it better than they do.

But as for 1:6, the majority of my money has been going to HT... sadly. I still am with SSC on Indy, the Dead, SW, GI Joe, and the now dead LOTR.

I'm generally not a 1:6 collector and most of what Hot Toys produces doesn't interest me enough to spend $150 plus for a figure, although I do agree that what they produce is amazing. If HT ever got the Indy license, I'd jump on board. Otherwise, I'm content to watch from the sidelines.

I usually like to diversify my buying between high end 1/6 scale figures, because usually each company has had their strengths (Hot Toys, Sideshow, and Medicom). That being said, Hot Toys has been dominating the 1/6 field and in all general areas. I've found myself buying from Hot Toys for 1/6 figures exclusively of late.

I buy whatever property interests me... if there is more than one company producing figures then I buy the one I like most.

I currently have more Sideshow 1/6 figures in my collection than any other company... but with my pre-orders are about about even between Sideshow and Hot Toys. Not to mention a couple from GoHero and the Subway Shining figure.

Interestingly, not a single Medicom pre-order.

I've been buying HT primarily--mostly b/c they have the properties I pine for in 1/6--but I bought stuff from Amok Time last year and I've gone back and picked up a dozen or so old SS figures recently. Of all their current properties, the only thing I've bought recently from them is the Old Ben and Indy. I have the Belloq Ex, Snake-Eyes Ex, and Cobra Commander Ex on pre-order though and they'll be a few SW characters coming up I'll be getting. I think SS is finally beginning to do that license justice, but then again I'm just a casual SW collector.

I pretty much buy what I like, but with the demise of the SS "LOTR" line, the thought has indeed crossed my mind on occasion.

With the exception of "Star Wars" and "Indy", I have no interest in their latest lines, such as G.I. Joe. On the other hand, Hot Toys has reeled me in with their "Alien", "Predator", "Iron Man" and now "Godfather" lines and figures.

So it may appear that I'm leaning that way already.

Other than the Elvira pf and T2 pf I plan on only getting ht stuff. Those are the only things I have on my agenda to get from ss.

Its the majority of what I collect now (only 1/6 on pre-order), but maybe about 25% of my overall collection. I have a few statues, prop replicas and a decent amount of smaller scale items like vintage Kenner SW, etc. Although I'm clearing out a lot of the smaller stuff as I haven't displayed any of it for a long time.

it's so nice and relieving when a homerun from Hot Toys comes and you can just buy the figure and be done with it.

If i have to fix a figure i most likely won't even buy it.
