Anyone else thinking of sticking with Hot Toys exclusively for their 1/6 needs?

I only but HT now because I just feel I'm getting more bang for my buck. Also when I choose to sell mine ocasionally I don't hardly ever loose money which is always most welcome.

I don't really go by the company, I go by the license and the quality of the figure. To be honest, in recent years I've passed on a lot of Sideshow figures I'd otherwise have been interested in-- I bought the big-headed Bespin Han in a moment of weakness but he was also dirt cheap at the time.

With prices climbing, I find it easier to pass on figures that strike me as mediocre. I really wanted the old school Han Solo and Luke Skywalker figures but they didn't "wow" me enough to pull the trigger. I wanted Indiana Jones until I read about all the body-swapping and various issues. I held him in my hand in Akihabara, really debated it and finally thought, "Nah, I just can't do it for this price." I think he's the best Indy available, but I made the mistake of buying the Medicom one earlier when I thought he might be my only Indy option. Two expensive Indy's would be ostentatious. I made my choice, so I have to live with it.

On the other hand, I have the Goldfinger James Bond and even though he's an older figure, I still love the guy. I even packed him and brought him with me when I moved here. He represents the toy I wanted when I was a kid but just wasn't available.

I really love HT's Batman stuff, but as much as I dug the movie and the amazing figures, I'm not into it enough to want to own them. Now, if they did old school comic book versions it might be a different story. Where Hot Toys has me are their Planet of the Apes figures. The license and the quality have me hooked, but the price has me cringing. The Sideshow ones were great in their day, and still have a lot of charm, but the HT Ursus is something else entirely. Still, if I didn't love the Apes movies, I'd have no problem just admiring them from a distance.

So for me, it's a very subjective thing. And an economics thing.

Funny this thread came up. In the past week I just entered the HT buying, with the Batman Begins Figure, Batman Dark Knigth, Joker, Joker Bank Robber, Two Face, Batpod, and todays preorder the the Batmobile 1/6 scale.

Honestly, I never considered HT to be something I would collect. I love the SS and Cinemaquette stuff, and there size and accuracy is amazing. Thing is, for the Batman stuff, especially the Batman Begins/Dark Knight theme, HT is simply the only ones out there that do this theme justice on a consistent basis. If SS or Cinemaquette were doing these, or Bownen or Hard Hero, I would be most likely going for their stuff.

For me, it is not the economy. It is who is making the best stuff for the character I want. I did the same for the HT ED209. Although I have the SS Exc Robo, I wanted an excellent ED-209. So know I bought the HT Robo to go with it.

I also echo most of Supergaijin76 comments. In particular the second paragraph. I know look for a "wow" factor with prices going up. I too felt the same way about the HT Batman, but know that I have received it, I am excited about getting it on display. The Batpod was pretty convincing, a little fragile, but still awesome. Ok, now I digress from the main theme.

I was into the SS SW 12" but lately there hasnt been anything good:( And the quality has weaken for me and SS.. I've just gotten HT batman and joker and there look really silly beside the SS stuff. HT figures look like 12" PF statues! its insane!. Ive been playing with the idea of making sperate bases and displays.

This is more or less what I do now. I get the figures that really interest me. Lately, with the exception of Indy, all of the 1/6th figures that I have been interested in have been from HT. I have cut back on figures that I am ordering and sticking with those that have something more than passing interest for me (such as HT's Iron Man figs - I really enjoyed the movie, but the character doesn't interest me the way others do, same with Snake Eyes). Lately, like a lot of other people, I have been sticking with the TDK figs from HT. I did preorder Dutch and the P1 fig, but they are the last for awhile until something else comes out that really impresses me enough to be worth the cash.

No way, I mean Why Ill all ways take a look to see whats out there you never know medi may do a come back or some other new brand may come along. to blindly stick to one brand is silly. Tho I have to say HT is #1, for now any way there stuff is the best. All Im saying is things can change....

I've decided to start selling my SS 1/6 figures. I've lost interest in them. Hot Toys all the way for 1/6.
Don't know when I'll start selling them, but I will soon.

I've pretty much already done that. With Buffy and LOTR dead the only thing I'm still with Sideshow for is Star Wars. If Hot Toys somehow got that, I would jump ship in an instant.

Well, I've started getting Hot Toys figures exclusively lately, but that's mainly because Sideshow has been doing lots of background characters that I wouldn't buy anyways or variations from their stormtroopers or clones. I've got the Vader 1/6th still ordered, definitely want the Stormtrooper and AOTC Obi-Wan, but other than that they're going to have to do more crucial characters for me to get them.

anyone looking into 1/6 predators, i highly recommend Narin's statues, most of them are bout the 1/6th scale with some exceptions, but he has some great sculpts, u just have to get them assembled and painted and they r well worth it with the right artist :D

While i love HT figs, other companies also churn out figures to my liking from time to time so i'll just buy what i like if it looks good and the price is right

Right now I am only buying from Hot Toys. After the Iron Man and the Dark Knight figures I don't think any other company would work for me.
