Getting insurance is one thing, but getting carrier to honor it and pay up is another.
I agree. The USPS requires you to sacrifice the item, then they basically open a case and determine the outcome, including if the defect is covered by insurance and the worth of the item. I doubt the USPS knows how much some collectibles are worth and would probably give you retail or some partial amount of the insured value.
