Mighty, your Apato does look softer on the colors..maybe it's the lighting ?

At Blade: Its probably because I used flash on it. :lol

Without the flash

i like the ground coloration on the apato, looks like an elephant to me. The head and the neck look a little bit like the 1:72 apatosaurus from david krentz.

@Reinhardt: thanks for your close up pics!:clap

I'm sure it is correct according to current theory, but the neck really bothers me. It looks so big with such an itty bitty head and then there are those tiny eyes...

Having seen a lot of reconstructions of this animal, I can tell you that this is definitely a thicker neck than usual, so it's probably normal to find it somewhat distracting at first. A bit like feathered maniraptors - although there isn't as much room for speculation on that - but the mind sometimes struggles to accept revisions to firmly planted images. Chris, can you think of any recent reconstructions that have necks like this? I sure can't. Even David's was a tad leaner.

Well, since I've already got a 1/4 representation of that Diplodocus skull you pictured, I'm happy to have this Apatosaurus skull as well. Especially since the 1/12 Philip Platt Apatosaurus skeleton is a bit out of my budget.:( I know the skull is just a skull, but its better than nothing. :lol

Heck, that whole Apatosaurus sculpt could be proven wrong tomorrow, so I take it all with a grain of salt. lol I get what your saying though, the skull is definitely "soft" looking. It's just that I've never expected the skulls to be the greatest in the world. They are just exclusives after all. :dunno

Btw, if you could, maybe you can ask Steve to send you pics of your Allosaurus before he sends it. If Martin is willing to repaint something that a customer doesn't like, I would expect someone as talented as Steve to be able to do the same. I mean, you are paying him to build up this model.

Also, great pics Reinhardt! I'm glad you received your Apatosaurus safe and sound. If there is one thing Sideshow has done great with this piece, it's the shipping. So far we have at least five people who have received their Apatos without any breakages. :)

I guess that's true. I have tried contacting Steve recently on FB and email without much luck...he hasn't responded to anything I've asked this month.

It is great the the packing is working out..I was really worried about that tail I have to tell you ! ;D

Sauropod necks have been getting thicker..they used to just stretch skin over the bones you know but now with how muscular they think they were people like Jorge are showing that more..to what degree is up the artist.

David's might be a teeny tiny bit leaner...almost imperceptible I think. Doing it over he might go a bit thicker..but his looks really close to Jorge's so I think it's fine putting the two together.

Jorge's almost looks inspired by David's.. lol

Jorge just did his as a healthiest, prime of life , piece..she is very robust and muscular even " fat " .

Chris is right about the similarities between the Krentz and Jorge Apatos.

Here is a comparison pic i just took. Sorry it's kinda blurry.

Anyone else wish Jorge had put spikes on the back of his Apatosaurus? I like them, personally. Adds more detail to the piece. :D

Same here..I'm partial to all spikey Dinosaurs..sauropods with at least small ones would have been good I think...even just bumps.

" Woah ! THAT'S HUGE ! " lol

Well, she does actually have a row of bumps along the back starting at the pelvis. Anything more would have been too precarious for an already thin-tailed piece.

Hi, I received mine the 22nd, living in France : it was a really quick delivery.
The box was largely damaged by all sides during transport, but inside the dino was neat :yess:. I'm in love with this maquette and her peacefull walk, and I'm making soon a nice shelve to fit her on.

I live in Sweden, I receieved mine on the 22nd as well. Everything looked perfect, including the box. My T. rex maquette however had a huge dent in it, but the sculpt was undamaged. :)

Hello! GinkKing and Robban, please tell me on what sites you ordered apatosaurus, and if they are serious?
PS: How much was apatosaurus? . In Germany appears in the middle of September

Hi tupuxuara! I bought mine from sideshowtoy.com. They're very serious! :) It costs 290$. :)

I got mine the other day. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to exchange it. The tail is broken about 5" from the tip.
