Well, just received tracking info. This beast should get here on Thursday. I'll see what I have on my hands that day. I hope he looks good. I truly LOVE this sculpt and character. He is one of my MUST have characters. I'll be gut wrenched if the QC is shoddy on my piece. Here's hoping for the best.

I'm more nervous than anything else. This is one statue I NEED in my collection. I only want 6 Marvel villain PFs. He's near the very top of my list. Only a Magneto PF would mean more to me. I'll see how things go on Thursday.

I have several reasons but I'm not going to list them all and take away from this thread as there are several people that really like this. My superman on the other hand.... He's a home run!! Needed that pick me up for sure!

It is curious how the DC line has been pretty good QC wise whereas the Marvel line has issues. Coincidence?

oh noe, a defects....the label under the base didn't stick. had to place a bunch of crushed/squeezed paper towel, underneath, to help keep it sticking. the horror!

My guess is the DC line is truly done in mixed media.
Take a piece like superman. You've got two portraits, hands, boots, and a cape that you have to get right. Batman same thing. Joker, Harley.... Ivy was fully sculpted. Some people complained saying she wasn't close enough to proto. I think she was done rather well. Ivy is the only fully sculpted one though. Everything else is mostly covered by fabric.
Now look at Apoc. Fully sculpted. Several different colors and lines on the statue. Absolute grenade. Quality was very poor. SS has done some amazing fully sculpted pieces but other then the Campbell line I can't think of anything recent that looks good. I think this is why SS if going for the mixed media look on their stuff. It's easier to get a statue right when your using fabric to cover it up instead of being hand painted. I don't mind. I don't care how they are doing the DC line so well. I just want them to keep it up. I'll buy my fully sculpted stuff from XM
Edit forgot about green lantern... great paint and also fully sculpted. DC just getting some love I guess

Deadpool was very nice. Tiny bit of Mixed Media, almost fully sculpted.
Yeah, I have the GL PF and the paint apps on it are absolutely KILLER. The last Marvel PF that I received with a great paint job was Deadpool. He was mainly sculpted with just a harness and some leg straps as a mixed media element. I have been very lucky so far. I actually have NEVER returned a sculpt because of bad paint apps. I've only had to contact CS because of broken statues twice. Got new pieces sent to me right away. I also had an art box that was completely crushed that they replaced as well. So, my track record with SSC's CS has been solid. I'm hoping the streak stays alive for Apocalypse. I so badly want to add him to my collection. Thursday can't get here fast enough.

I love my DP but if you guys remember there was all types of turbulence even in that thread for awhile because of the wax paper creating dull spots in the paint. Some had larger issues then most. He's one of favorites period but even a masterpiece like DP had its issues throughout the release
GL was Defintely a great paint app. People loved that sculpt. The only real criticism was the scale. Really just came down to personal preference

The one I received was perfectly executed.

That's very true. I wonder how many statues they have. I imagine like 5-6 at least. All producing different statues. Unless there are batman or supes sized ES' coming. Then maybe they do 2 factories?
