While I think the latest dio is a nice sculpt the choice of characters are those you would expect 5 - 6 years into a licence. Where are:

Thanos v Silver Surfer
Juggernaut v Colossus
Dr. Doom v Thing
Daredevil v Bullseye
Apocalypse v Arch Angel
Jean Grey v Emma Frost
Ironman v Ironmonger

then we have the last comiquette X-23 yet where are:
Silver Surfer
Juggernaut comic version
Nova
Captain Marvel
Adam Warlock

Where is the following PF's
Thanos
Daredevil
Cyclops
Sabretooth
Apocalypse

hell this is just a few of the many neglected characters.

Isn't Captain Marvel a pretty obscure character? I would rate Psylocke much higher.

I agree with most of your dio suggestions, but Dr Doom vs Thing seems a bit odd to me.
If it was Iron Man, I think I'd prefer a Crimson Dynamo. Iron Monger seems a bit overdone. I suspect an Iron Monger maquette from the movie is in the works, anyway.
The new Psylocke dio is great I think. The reason is, I don't just collect the characters I know and like, but I also collect Marvel statues that are particularly well done, and are visually interesting, as works of art. I know nothing about Spiral in the Psylocke dio, but the piece by itself looks very nice. I'm not a huge Galactus fan (no pun intended), but it's so well done, I'm getting one. I'm not really into LSBs but I like Cap a lot, too.
I say, so long as it is a visually interesting statue that is very well done, that is the most important.
Another thing you mentioned in another post is the match ups are off. I agree. Punisher vs Daredevil?? Basically hero vs hero? Miss.

SS has been hit or miss with me. Picked up EX Rogue, EX Mystique, EX Hulk vs SS, and classic EX Iron Man comiquette. Four pieces total out of all their recent releases and preorders. All the other recent offerings are a pass for me. I'm kind of happy to be saving some $$$. Those 4 pieces are more than a grand total. This will give my wallet a chance to recover.

That's just crazy talk. Mar-vell is a classic character that the old guard (like me) know and has been recently revived (sorta) in Secret Invasion.

I can see where some might be tired of the art direction that has a character in flight with seemingly little connection to the base. It's a cool way to display a diorama though and DC Direct has done it a lot too (after SSC started it). It's certainly dynamic.

You may complain about character choice too - but I think the execution has been been pretty consistent and the line is probably the 2nd most successful of the Marvel product (after the AH! statues).

Thor Vs. Loki and Blade Vs. Drac are 2 of the best they've done, no matter what you think of the characters.

Good guys always mixed it up with each other! What kid didn't get excited in seeing Captain America squaring off against Namor or Nova duking it out with Thor? Would you pass on a dio of Iron Man v.s Iron Fist? Sheeet, not me!

Heck, I'd like to see dios executed with classic art styles and costumes of any number of these, good v.s. bad or good v.s. good:

Thor v.s. Hercules
Thor v.s Hulk
Thing v.s Hulk
Hulk v.s Rhino
Thing v.s Sandman (green Kirby costume)
Vision v.s Ultron
Iron Man v.s Mandarin (or Melter or Gladiator or Kang or Iron Fist)
Dr. Doom v.s Reed Richards
Storm v.s Sauron
Captain America v.s Constrictor (or Scorpion)
Black Panther v.s Klaw
Sub-Mariner v.s Tiger Shark (or Human Torch)
Daredevil v.s Gladiator (or Stiltman or Bullseye)
Spider-Man v.s almost any of his classic 60s-70's rogues gallery: Scorpion, Vulture, Doc Ock, Lizard, Green Goblin, Mysterio, Sandman, Rhino, Kraven, Electro, Tarantula, Shocker, Kingpin, Man-Wolf)

Hell, I could go on and on...

Yeah, Spiral v.s. Psylocke looks kind of weak now. :lol But I realize that if they gave us what I would like such as Captain America v.s Constrictor or Black Panther v.s Klaw people would be ^^^^^ing on those too. :lol

To me, the only REAL Captain Marvel is Shazam, and this other Captain Marvel just looks too much like Captain Planet for my tastes. I just can't get past the Captain Planet similarity in appearance. I suppose however that the character was more well known than I thought. I was mostly collecting from 84- 90, and I don't recall him being very well known then.

Who is Capt. Planet? By 84 Mar-vell was dead I think.

Get over it dudes it's one dio. I don't think ss is folding any tim e soon. You'll have plenty of chances to type "my wallet and i are not on speaking terms"
In the meantime settle for the equally lame "This will give my wallet a chance to recover"

Captain Planet? :lol

Captain Marvel is an awesome character in all of different incarnation and I'd welcome the addition if SSC produced it. Hell, I've been patiently waiting for a Ms. Marvel piece for a while

Yeah but Marvel has been around since the late 40s. Star Wars only the 70's. And there would be more Marvel fans than there would be SW fans.

:lol I doubt that.

I have to agree.

Me being more of a Marvel type than SW still believes that there are more SW junkies around the world than Marvel.

Not that Marvel hasn't increased their fan base with the success of their recent high box office movie releases which started 2002 with Spiderman 1 but SW I think is still much more well known.
