To be honest with you...I fell that almost all sideshow pieces are great.

As far as bad sculpts:

Bruce Lee PF
Godfather PF & Bust
Scarface FF
Wolverine Comiquette

The Wolverine Comiquette is hardly a bad sculpt. In fact its the best Wolverine ever sculpted.

I agree with you on the Bruce Lee PF. IMO that is Sideshow's all time FAIL.

In regards to the Wolverine, what makes it a bad sculpt, pray tell?

:lol Saying you don't like the Wolverine Comiquette and that its a bad sculpt is like sounding the war horn and waiting for the calvery to arrive.

Sorry mike, but that's not what I was trying to get at. I'd honestly like to know what is "bad" about the Wolverine sculpt. besides the obvious smaller than 1/4 scale, which I dont consider to be a part of the 'sculpt'.

In terms of the Iron man comiquette, that has more flaws than the wolverine imo.

The Iron Man Comiquette is a great representation of the Extremis concept. I would say there is more issue with Tony Stark sculpt around the time of Extremis then the Iron Man piece itself. What I don't like about the Wolverine sculpt is that in its attempt to add realism they make it more cartoony. The jagged teeth, the elongated canines which is a trend that is disturbing in many Wolverine sculpts, the jaw is slightly elongated to get the yell to look fierce enough and I don't like the lines around the mouth on the masked sculpt. The unmasked sculpt to me is worse. The frownlines are overdone to look again more fierce, the teeth sculpts are too animalistic, again done a lot with Wolverine pieces, the bags under the eyes and the crow's feet are too pronounced and again the elongated jawline. The hair is done more naturally than most other Wolverine pieces but its like the sculptor couldn't decide whether to make Wolverine aged or youthful so decided on a mix of both. In reality I haven't seen a Wolverine piece done in a realism aspect that has been up to par IMHO and the fact that the Wolvie Comiquette isn't 1/4 scale is just another nail in the coffin not the only one.

Magneto Comiquette is pretty horrid too....the Namor Comiquette's facials are really bad but for all the ones you listed Rasta, you'll find they all have their fans who will defend them all tooth and nail.

I never understand the hate that the Magneto comiquette gets. I don't like the Ted Danson exclusive head, but otherwise I love this sculpt.

All right....

Let's start with the standard head. The art of Magneto being without pupils is a definitive Jim Lee thing. The thing is he only did it for the first few issues on his run of X-Men but he did it to show usage of power like Storm. It would make sense to have it in the unhelmeted and in the helmeted but the fact he has pupils in one and not the other but the pose is the same makes even less sense.

The shading above the eyes doesn't make sense since the helmet itself is given the appearance through the sculptor that it sits directly on his head, almost flush with his forehead....so the shading makes absolutely no sense since there isn't anything to give shadow. Yet the pieces at the sides of his face around the cheek are large and jutting out creating a natural shade or shadow that isn't replicated. Magneto's helmet is symmetrical and fits the same around his head as has been shown in decades of comics. This part of the helmet is much too long. Since they are looking at a Jim Lee inspiration here is an example

The open gaping mouth makes no sense, it isn't sculpted in an angry "pose" but left a gape. Open and the teeth sculpting was also done horribly because they were striving for realism but when you make the indentations between teeth too pronounced then end up looking fake and cartoony. The facial sculpt again is troublesome, Magneto is older especially in this incarnation and yet the facial sculpt has none of that, he looks actually quite youthful with no lines in his face at all except bordering the mouth. He doesn't look like a hardened Holocaust survivor with an anger towards all of humanity, but a youthful young adult that with that facial expression doesn't know how to control or use his powers.

The floating is a neat attempt but the fact that his cape flows underneath him makes no sense, he is a powerhouse not a bride with a long flowing garment behind to for two small flower girls to carry around. It doesn't flow naturally but begins to spiral around at the waist and the fact that he is actually stepping on it brings more negative focus to it. The hand placement is awkward giving an attempt to reach out then as if he were using his powers and I'm not too happy with the stature. I see what they were trying to do but they could have done much more effectively using the same Jim Lee inspiration.

It definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I like the Wolverine Comiquette in spades over this because it at least has some redeeming qualities. I won't even get into the unhelmeted sculpt.

You have some very accurate and valid points....

But its because of those same reasons why I love it so damn much!

If they ever decide to make a realistic Hugh Jackman Wolverine PF, I might consider getting it but for now i'm happy with my exaggerated long jawed and sharp tooth Wolv.....he looks bad ass!

:D:naughty:D:naughty:rolleyes:

:lol Just because I don't like it or anyone else doesn't like it doesn't mean it isn't worth anything. I hope the owners and those on a quest to find one get theirs and enjoy it as much as I enjoy my Iron Man pieces. Its just I've been put on the spot many times about why I think its a bad piece personally so I finally decided to answer.

And you definately hit on all the right reasons, i'll give you that...it was a good read....

Going back to the topic of the thread, what character could be announced next that would actually appease the masses? It seems like everyone is kind of divided at this point of who or what they want next.

DD, Wolv, Storm, Fury, Standing IM, Cyclops, Galactus or Modern Hulk PF.

That's my 8.

I think any of the 'main' characters that I have seen the bulk of people have been asking for...

  1. Cyclops
  2. Daredevil
  3. Wolverine (brown costume)
  4. Venom
  5. Sabretooth
  6. Gambit
  7. Juggernaut
  8. Thanos

Characters that would still make ALOT of people happy:

  • A new, modern Hulk
  • A new, modern IM
  • Jean Grey as herself or Phoenix (not a Black Queen ripoff)
  • Colossus
  • Dr. Strange
  • Dr. Octopus (I personally don't get it, but I have seen him mentioned alot)
  • Storm
  • Apocalypse
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Deadpool
  • Silver Surfer

There may be a few that others want, but these are the characters that I have seen the most requests for.
