Are you an opener or a MOCer?

Opener here.....However,Sometimes I buy 2 of the same figure that I really like just in case the one I opened fall off the shelves or if I break something on it over time.....:google :google You can call this border-line paranoia....:google :google

I used to leave everything in boxes and still have tons of "toys" in the boxes, but I might be moving all that stuff as I am into the high end SS stuff and other higher end stuff.

I now open all my SS and other higher end stuff. It's too nice not to display.

I'm pretty much the same way.. I will open most of it but a few things that actually look better packaged (500 & Celebration Vader and some others) I will keep closed.

Can someone show a pic of these to explain why they look better in packaging?

I don't think the majority of figures look better in the packaging, but I think figures like the 500th and CIII Vader were unique because of their packaging. It wasn't like the figures alone were that much different from previous Vader releases.

True Batty... those two Vader's were not that different than others before them. C3 Vader was simple the anniversary Vader remolded. And 500 Vader was just the vintage figure sitting down with a removeable helmet. But those two figures were all about the packaging as you stated... Cool package, good enough reason to stay in them.

JustinLuck.... check out ebay...just do a search and you will find them easily. Then you will see what we mean. just type Celebration Vader or 500 Vader... The C3 Vader was cool because it spoke specially recorded dialog from James Earl Jones for the convention. Plus you could listen to it without opening the package, and top all of this off.... you can change the batteries too without messing it up! Very cool idea.

As for 500 Vader, they replicated the meditation chamber so that you could remove and replace the helmet without disturbing the package... faithfully recreating the scene from ESB.

It depends on what the item is. I've opened all but one Sideshow figure (Jaws). Two other Sideshow figures I keep boxed because they're duplicates I won in contests that I plan on selling at some point. for Dragon and BBI I leave most of the limited exclusives boxed, the rest I open. I open most Medicom stuff except the first Rocketeer and Movie Spider-Man.
Other things like Hasbro Star Wars I'll leave some MOC and some I open. I usually buy two of each figure I open one to stay MOC. On Titanium vehicles, I only open the ones I like the most.
For Marvel Legends, I open all but the Variants.

"Survey says-- Open."

I do stow the boxes though just in case I ever want to sell something, figure the box coming with it will be more attractive to a buyer.

Between SSC and DML I have about two hundred opened and 300 MIB stored away for when I retire. I plan on opening a shop in my old days. :D

I do keep the boxes as well... just in case I ever want to sell or move... Plus, some of them are just too cool to part with. Luke being the best by far...:monkey5

I keep my boxes. I think packaging design is overlooked a lot of the time. The SSC Universal Monsters boxes are my favorites. Check out the archives.

Set them free!

What do collectibles/toys fear? A cage. To stay behind cardboard and plastic until non-use and old age accept them and all chance of admiration has gone beyond recall or desire. (Eowyn 3:16) :D

THis has been true for me. Even when I sell custom work, some yahoo always asks if I have the box.
