I'll wait for further pics, but right now I find myself oddly underwhelmed.

The Conan is pretty standard both in terms of look and pose, so while there's nothing at all wrong with it, there's nothing particularly noteworthy or exciting about it either. It literally is 'just another Conan'. And I say this as a Conan fanatic.

The snake, while seemingly well sculpted and painted and designed, just doesn't have the impact I imagined it would. Maybe if it was posed in a more threatening 'about to strike' manner it might have been different. As it stands though, it's just a big snake, which fits in with Conan's universe, and it's perfectly fine, again there's nothing actually wrong with it, but it just doesn't quite have the impact or wow factor that I was hoping for.

As far as the slave girl goes, I get what the piece is going for, but she just doesn't work all that well for me, and is the weak point of the statue in my opinion. The face and giraffe neck aren't helping matters any, either. But most of all, she doesn't seem very 'Hyborian', though it is hard to clearly put into words exactly why.

It's still a nice enough piece overall, and one that feels like it would fit in pretty well with Sideshow's Conan diorama's (even if it is 1/4 instead of 1/5 scale), and if it was a reasonable price I'd bite, but given the sheer amount of cash this will cost to own I just don't think there is enough wow factor here for me to justify that kind of money down, plus shipping. It's a nice looking Conan piece, but it's a long way from the 'be all and end all' epic statue that was so often touted. For me at least.

I don't know. As I said I'll wait for better pics, and hopefully some video as well, and a reveal on all the bits and pieces and the final price before I make up my mind one way or the other, but as it stands I feel slightly disappointed to be honest.

I'm sure the end result of this will be good, really dig the snake. Conan looks decent. Would be cool if there was a little mixed media element to it. The girl definitely needs to revisit the drawing board, a little more of a natural flow to her pose and maybe a face lift. It could just be the paint app? Looking forward to seeing more though, not big into dioramas but its pretty cool none the less.

Averone put "No one even can see how huge this is, no scale comparison yet either and only the regular base has been shown"

So is he saying this is the regular base? I think he got mixed up.

Yeah, he's tripping, that has to be the EX base with the snake.

I don't know .... are we really sure that this giant base with a snake on it is the touted 'giant base with snake' and not the regular base with no snake ? :rotfl

This is what happens with all the unnecessary hype. We get setup for a bit of a letdown. Overall I like it. Looks like a Buscema Conan and the Serpent looks good too. This could be the cover of a Savage Sword Of Conan.

I think the girls pose needs to be reworked, she looks awkward. Right now her pose doesn't flow with the rest of the piece. She would look better kneeling with her right hand on the ground and her left arm held up across her face instead of that 90 degree angle it's at now. The neck and eyes need to be reworked also.

I can't wait to get to the con Friday and see the guys in person, ask some pertinent questions and get some definitive answers. :cuckoo:

:goodpost: :exactly:

With you, but I don't think it's the paint app screwing up the girl. You're dead on with the pose issue.

Not digging the sneak so far wassuper excitedforthis, dont know now! Still I will reserve judgement for the final.production piece.

Yea! You tell Arahom!
His in fact the sculptor so we can still make changes to the AP.

We listen to some advise, if you dont like the face of the girl no big deal. We will change it.

Its not finalized for Sideshow yet, so we will make slight adjustments.

Its good that the fans say hello to ARH and tell them what they think, I am with you on this.

Still, I have not seen it in person yet myself so I will wait for final judgments.

I think you should wait to at least put a good show on!
We will have much better pics from the show. And people will see it in person, then you can ask them personally what they think.

So will it be possible to buy the Conan and Snake, but without the girl?

As for the general piece, the Sideshow one looks a lot better, but this is to be expected. What I do like is that this piece tells a story, which I think is the only weakness to the Sideshow piece (it doesn't really tell any kind of story though it isn't trying to). I also appreciate the way size was handled. I was worried this would be ridiculously huge like Medusa was, but it looks like this piece is a bit more confined in a way I think works really well for it. The snake is more serpent like thanks to this. The scene seems very fitting to something you might have read in the stories.

I dont think we will sell the base without the girl. All of this will get produced in China. They will make changes in the factory. Dont forget this is the same factory that did our Medusa's, and now the Rattle production.

Lets wait for more info from Arahom, Im always open to suggestions, but the girl is an essential part of the story.

It looks like a good piece, i like Conan's pose and paints and i like the snake and its paints, i did think the snake was gonna be bigger but i'm sure it hand its pretty damn big.

The pose and the face of the girl definitely need work, it doesn't work for me at all, i think i'd prefer it without the girl altogether, i'd have preferred a a guy cut in two or a rotting corpse, something that gave the piece a bit more attitude.

I'm looking forward to some proper pics. I'm actually kinda surprised at the pics, Averone you do some amazing pics of your Bowen stuff with really nice lighting, no idea why you used flash on this, you know Flash doesn't do any piece, no matter how good, any favours.

Like i said it looks good but it really really needs to be great and it could be with some work.

Thank you! I agree to some extent.

However I didnt take the pictures!
As I said better pics will come from the show.

Also, we make changes till the last minute. Sideshow will have a perfect sculpt.

Hmm if the girl has to be part of it then I think I will pass. Just wanted Conan battling a snake. I prefer leaving the T&A to the Japanese.

Like I said I will run it by Arahom, there may be a way to do this still without the girl for you. We will see what happens. Its a bit of work to order it from factory this way if thats what you want.

That's a great personalized touch, something we won't get from SS.
