Yes, you're missing something. You're missing that you are going to and ONLY to the extreme end of the bill and totally ignoring the fact that even "annoying someone" could become illegal. You're seriously in favor of that?

And in turn you are missing something. It's not practical to think that "annoying someone" would fall under the umbrella of this bill. I mean really, does our legal system have the time, money and resources to investigate each and every passing conflict that occurs on the internet? That's a silly thought to even entertain.

I made threats to bush years ago on Diablo II game and I don't even care. He's an idiot and always is. I have no respect for this person. Seem like people are more like sheep now. People don't question much.
I see this law as possibly getting abused like the stand your ground crap. There's alot of crap like militia and religious cult in this country that are much worse.

For a criminal bill it doesn't matter what end. Should we outlaw drunk driving laws cause everyone doesn't blow the legal limit yet are still impaired? Should a law against killing the president only be official if he's killed and not wounded? If a proven child molester is "annoying" a 13 year old girl at the local pool by taking pics of her with his phone you think that's OK?

And as for the annoy bit...if a telemarketer sends me 1000 texts per hour and I get charged for those texts, I'm annoyed and I'm going to sue so I don't have to pay those fees.

Part of an international push had richard bacon on bbc last week do a show on this ......how we need to push for tighter laws because someone on twitter created an account called that ____ bacon and going around saying hes not very talented, richard even hired a cyber detective to track said person down, in the end they could not track him down and richard handed his evidence to the police.......fortunatly the law wil probably be about as much use as the bbc at tracking the person down

I don't read anything in that statement that pertains to simple trolling.

:lecture:lecture:lecture :exactly:

Seems someone doesn't understand the difference between trolling and harassment. The bill seems geared toward using digital means to harass people. Otherwise, I'm wholly annoyed with just about everything politicians in Arizona, from the local mayors to the governor, to it's senators, have put up on the internet. Who's citing them? :huh

How about this?

This is not the government's responsibility. Nor is it their frakkin' business!

It is the parents'.

Citizens need to grow up and get off the government tittie.

If you are going to make something illegal (which I never agree with as we already have too many laws), make it the neglegence of the parents who allow small children to have access to areas of the internet without supervision where they can end up on the radar of a child predator.

Parents need to "parent up"!

There was once a fine fellow here who PM'd me that if we ever met he was going to chew my genitals into straw. Not sure what that even meant. Was it a threat? :dunno

Marc, I said I was sorry! I didn't know you were married at the time!

:D

VaSith, no point in even talking to you. You're obviously in favor of a state controlled society where big brother controls all you do and see. No thanks.

No I don't. I want a state that has laws available to prosecute people who threaten the lives of other people. Again, if someone posts something online that they are going to kill someone, I think that information should be admitted in a case.

We're going around in circles in this...neither of us is going to convince the other. :dunno
