Re: Article: 1/6 Hot Toys - Guardians of The Galaxy - Backstage Pass

I am worried about the cheese factor for this movie. All the trailers up to the last UK one were all too cheesy IMO. Just want it to be badass and epic. Just have to wait and see.

Re: Article: 1/6 Hot Toys - Guardians of The Galaxy - Backstage Pass

I'm with you on that. I love the X-Men 90s cartoons and the movies just don't do it for me. The rosters don't mix and there's no depth to most of the characters. Sabertooth and Wolverine don't recognize each other in X1 was a bad choice. I do really enjoy the McAvoy/Fassbender duo however.

The Mandarin twist for me was the worst Marvel choice so far for me. Seriously, you have a flying destroyer ship, a Hulk and aliens, yet you don't want to do a guy with magic rings. Come on! His rings could've been a cool (Soul?) infinity stone.

I can agree with your thing with the X-Men films to a point. They are great films, very good films, but as comic book movies? Pretty damn crappy. Again, with the exception of Charles and Erik, they are written and acted beautifully by Stewart/McKellen and McAvoy/Fassbender. DOFP was the most comic booky though which is a good sign and unless they "Singer-ize" or Nolan-ize Apocalypse, they would HAVE to go even more of a comic book route to make his character work.

Yeah the first X-Men film has it's differences but you do have to remember it was the first mainstream comic book film ever. And Bryan Singer wasn't even a huge fan of the comics so he made his own changes so the general audiences would like it. yeah the changes suck but those were just different times. What Marvel Studios has done with Iron Man and on is absolutely mind blowing. Embracing the source material and literally translating the page to screen. It's just beautiful. They show the general public why us comic fans love these characters so much without changing the important things.

Well the tone of Guardians of the Galaxy is supposed to be out there and cheesy! Even the comics are written the same way. I'm sure it will have some seriousness like they showed in the UK trailer but yeah, it's supposed to be cheesy and fun. That's what's fun about the characters! I mean, there's a talking "raccoon" and a walking talking tree. Which reminds me, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Rocket yells at people for calling him and thinking he's an actual raccoon. That'd make the movie so damn awesome for me.

Yes good point I think the cheesy out there elements are there on purpose, I guess its centered around the characters personalities, which is what makes them unlikely heroes, it's a central theme of the movie, but I don't doubt Marvel..... they have a unique way of making their movies accessible to all audiences so I would imagine there will be decent dose of seriousness

Alright, i'm officially going on lockdown for this movie until the film comes out. Just a little more than a month guys!

Re: Article: 1/6 Hot Toys - Guardians of The Galaxy - Backstage Pass

Not a day goes by where I wish I was like that. XD must be nice to not have such high expectations but it's like, what if a film adaption changed something that you loved just for the sake of change. It's why I hate the new Spidey movies.

If it's not broken don't fix it...UNLESS you actually think of something better. Like Jarvis becoming Vision. Now THATS an awesome idea. As for Tony possibly creating Ultron...I'm incredibly worried about that.

I guess us fans just want other people to see why we loved the characters so much and not a doctored version of it. CoughIronPatriotcough

Haha IP pissed me off rather than the Mandarin twist which I was fine with.

I do get why comic fans get upset about changes because as a Classic Doctor Who fan I've disliked much of what the revived series has done, I just don't have the same connection with comics....the MCU movies were what really got me into Marvel in a big way.

From there I have become more intrested and I've gone back and read some Iron Man and Thor comics as well as all the original Rocket Raccoon stories and I'm also following the current Guardians run....which Rocket's persona seems close to based on what we've seen of him in the trailers.

It'll be nice if we get at least one full reveal from HT in time for the movie.

I think we have good chance of getting to see a final prototype figure before opening day, I hope we get a movie promo figure but I don't think they'll make one for an unproven franchise.

I wonder if there's a chance of a movie promo or other exclusive version of Rocket in the blue costume?

We've seen the orange outfit on the WIP prototype and the yellow prison outfit on the table in the same pic so maybe HT could do the blue one as a seperate release to get some more use out of the body.

In an ideal world Rocket would be released with all 3 outfits, a couple of headsculpts and lots of weapons, but it's HT we're talking about so it's probably best to assume they'll do something devious in order to get people to spend more money than originally intended :lol

mmmm...... who knows really, Hot Toys are devious. I would prefer a RR with all three outfits and all his weapons in the same pack but I doubt that will happen

Who is the red/ black guy who plays a villain. The one who encounters Star Lord in the trailer? Is he a major character?

Well Korath is supposed to be Kree....but doesn't have the blue skin like Ronan does, which is what all Kree have. But basically he makes cybernetic warriors for the Kree empire. As for the movie version....he kinda just looks like he's a bounty hunter. He's not an extremely major character but he does pop up in the comics ever now and again.

:exactly: I would have preferred Djimon Hounsou play Drax instead of this pointless addition but whatever. Nebula looks great though! :rock

Re: Article: 1/6 Hot Toys - Guardians of The Galaxy - Backstage Pass

Dude, Djimon Hounsou would be a GREAT T'Chaka, and if he were younger, a perfect T'Challa.

oh thats good too, and The Black Panther movie it seems was that Untitled Phase 3 movie, so casting ideas ? ↓↓

They should throw in one more solo movie for Captain Marvel. That's all I want before Avengers 3 XD Especially since we're getting the Kree in Guardians.

So, Ant-Man, Cap 3, Thor 3, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Captain/Ms. Marvel, Avengers 3.

I don't think that's a bad lineup at all. It'd be cool if the last phase before Avengers 3 had a slightly bigger lineup.
