Thanks Feroze!
So outta the loop on getting anything done lately, I'm really trying hard to push my career (over the toys :wink1:) but I have a ton of things in the works. :)

I think I'm calling my first penguin done. There's a few things I'd like to go back and work on, but it was my first attempt and I'll just apply them to the next one. I'm now in the process of making an Ice Cave Dio as well. :nana:

I give you "Slide" V1

Half way thru the Ice Cave dio, so I thought I'd just throw up some wip pics. I'm combining 3 different ways I've seen from customizers of making ice and snow and creating a little of my own as well. I worked out some small samples with minor differences but majorly different results. It's really hard to tell subtleties in the pics so I won't even bother posting them, but I will give my own tutorial/take on how I'm doing this.

I carved out some rough rock shapes in insulation foam, then did a quick rough sanding to take off any high points and really rough areas. Then I mixed up a wood glue and water mixture (I just happen to have the wood glue on my table at the time but any hobby glue will work), keep it more glue to water ratio or it becomes too runny. I brushed on this mixture so the paint would "take" to the foam once it dried. Once dry I put on a base coat of white primer. When that was dry I sprayed silver over that, then transparent blue. Once everything was dry I started in on the white highlights and drybrushing techniques to get an icy snow look. Now here's the fun part. After finding out from SpaceCrawler how he did his Wampa cave with glitter: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101697
I went to Michael's to find a few different varieties of glitter in different areas of the store (not all in the same place for some reason?) and tried out a number of samples. This is where the subtleties make a huge difference in the end result. Some glitter is very silver, some to pearl (purple) and some just right! Then I also bought some Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow for icing on the cake. I just uploaded a bunch of pics, but thought I'd post some while I wait overnight for everything to dry before my next few layers. I'm trying to build up different layers of varnish throughout so it will have more depth in the "ice" look along with using transparent colors.

I started to paint the rocks before I realized I needed to mix up plaster for the base to set them into, so this pic is the roughed out plaster base with foam rocks.

I forgot to take a pic of everything silver, but I think you get the idea. This has been sprayed with Krylon Transparent Blue over the Krylon Silver, 2 light coats of varnish between.

Tomorrow I'll begin to layer up some white washes and varnish, then wait some more.:impatient:
Then onto building up the snow effects then the glitter! Hopefully I'll have everything done by this weekend.

those weapons on the 1st page are sweet! was looking for a futuristic pistol recently and settled on a 1/6 Gears o war snub. your stuff is better lol

Magnus, hopefully getting around to that second penguin very shortly. :panic:
Mookeylama, thanks man, that GOW pistol should do you good. It's always fun to chop apart some cheap weapons too and create your own.

I was just going through some old pics and I don't think I ever posted this on here. I added sweat stains onto my Rainman Narrator.

Finally got the Ice Cave dio complete.....well maybe not complete, but like my signature says, you don't really ever finish a kitbash, you just choose when to stop working on it." :wink1:
There are so many slight subtleties in color, sheen and glitter, that there is not really a good way of lighting to shoot this.

Genius stuff, man. Looking over this whole thread right now & i'm very impressed!

Hey 'yall, sorta new here, some of you may already know me, just thought I'd throw my hat into the ring as well and post some of my customs. I don't really post any of my bashes over here, but I guess it's better time than never. I'll start off slow with some of my early blasters. Some are just repaints, some are complete scratchbuilds.
