The SSW Arwen has a pretty strong likeness, but I think the maquette is right up there. In general, I prefer the pose and costume and base of the maquette. It has a nice flowing quality to the robes and hair, and the angle of her arm accentuates the slight curve of the sword. The whole thing has a nice fluid sense of graceful movement to it, which is appropriate for an elf. If there was going to be a version of Arwen produced, this is the one I'd want. I don't even remember the character in the white dress holding a flower as in the SSW statue. She was at her best rescuing Frodo in film one, and I'm glad that's the version we got.
It's very difficult to get a close up that represents what it actually looks like in person. That's true of any of my pictures, but it seems that close ups are particularly difficult to pull off faithfully.
I can see Liv in this, so the EX portrait is not as good as this?

The sculpts are supposed to be the same with the EX having the necklace and the painted scratch on the cheek.
They look the same to me, only thing different would be if they have bad eyes or not.

that's sideshow statues for ya..it all depends on the mood of the migrant chinese worker, if he has enough sleep, or didnt drink too much etc...
sideshow's QC should have caught it, but they are nonexistent as of late.

I only asked for the reg head. I don't know why. My sword hand magnet is reallly weak as well. I should have at least asked for that too.

Me too. I'll wait for some more people to get theirs. If other people get decent paint apps i may go back and buy this.

I highly doubt this will sell out any time soon so I'm going to wait a bit before i order.

Here are comparison shots of both the Regular and Exclusive heads on mine (Exclusive #230). While I definitely hoped Arwen would turn out a little better, all and all I'm both pleased and relieved.

Fremen, you've got some talent! I'd be terrified to paint something myself, but yours turned out great!

It seems the portraits are often the areas of concern. When you consider what a small portion of the paint job it is, it seems like it would be worth having a dedicated painter doing only these (or if that is already happening, doing the portraits state-side or something). The rest of the statue can be painted to perfection, and then if the face gets slightly screwed up it can ruin the perception of the entire piece. I'm sure there's a number of logistical concerns with this, etc. but something needs to be done about the QC lately.
