Seems like a real gent...nice updates.
Not so great news to me. The 3A figures are highly stylized - I can see them modeling the 2000AD characters off artists I hate rather than the more realistic Bolland.
you may be sorted, a post from Ashley himself -
"The characters will look like the comic version, im not redesigning them, Durham will look like Carlos first did it and so on.... these are 2000ad comic toys, not hyper realistic BS reworks to fit in with a trend or get popularity points, 2000ad toys for 2000ad fans.."
well im gonna rock at least one 2000ad fig thats 3AA only
Updated quote from Ashley Wood -
tharg will hit soon..
then some A.B.C Warrriors and so on, there isnt a in-stone release schedule, just as they are ready.
Rogue Trooper is a fav, Johnny Alpha, Apocalypse War Dredd, Robo Hunter, Mean Machine, Fink, City of the Damned Dredd, gronk, RO-jaws..Nemesis, Sov Judge..... gah, so much
thats a just a start, this isnt a short term license dodgy job, this is 3A and rebellion thinking far down the line.
I believe a Jan issue of 2000ad will sport a 3A 2000 AD ad !
The first figure needed to be a simple, unpretentious, good quality 1/6 Judge Dredd figure, either generic or based on Bolland's Dredd, as that's the only character that most non-fans (and even fans) will buy.
Then Rogue Trooper, Judge Death, Strontium Dog, Judge Anderson, that's it, line's over.
That all sounds really boring and unambitious. 3A obviously doesn't do generic figures. And if they have the license for an indefinite period of time, why would they stop at just the five most popular characters? And Tharg makes perfect sense as the first figure if you've ever read the comic. He introduces every issue. If you're a fan of the comic, then what's not to like about figures that are being made in the visual style of the comic? I don't want a watered down "generic" version of those characters.
As for Tharg, again, why start with a character that was always a bit of a joke and has minimal popular appeal?
