I this is what the final product looks like I think Asmus may be on the path to redeem themselves in the eyes of collectors, just needs an aluring price tag now, also think they made the right call getting rid of moveable eyes.

Asmus could get some practice with moveable eyes by making a Moria Orc

I guess I'm the only one who's just not really seeing the likeness on this. Especially compared to their excellent Gandalf the Gray proto. All I see here is just a generic old man.

But maybe the official preview pics will win me over...

Nah I'm with you on our little boat of different opinion. I'm not seeing the likeness as much as others here.

Yes, I agree. Outside of the most recent Jack Sparrow figure, I don't think I've ever really seen the movable eyes be produced flawlessly. They're often set too deep or just look a bit wonky, and while I have no data to back this up, I'm going to guess that most collectors don't really utilize them much.

At the end of the day these are pieces of art in figure form and I'd much rather the figure look top notch than have a novelty like movable eyes take away from the finished product, like what happened with Gandalf the Grey.

Really wish we could get some communication from Asmus on this being the production piece and when it’ll go up for order. Same with Boromir and the Nazgul. So much stuff I want has popped up lately and I want to make sure I can plan accordingly.
Yes! I PO’d the Nazgûl and would love to see more pics of it !

I think for their own sake Asmus need to drop some more professional/posed pics of this figure relatively soon, because if I am being honest the more I look at it the more I am struggling with keeping the hint of a likeness I saw in the pic Asmus shared earlier.
I think there are a few factors that are working against the figure in the pictures taken so far that are easy to correct and would really show off this figure in the best light. Which it deserves really as they have clearly worked hard here.
- the fizzy/unkempt hair - this hair was more characteristic of Gandalf the Grey, but Gandalf the White usually has quite neat hair that is straight and looks like its been combed (in fact it usually looks like its been combed back just a touch)
- the outer white robe is being allowed to swallow the figure and cover up the other layers of Gandalf's outfit in many of the pictures so far which makes him look like a huge white amorphous blob or some old guy in a huge white poncho.

Gandalf the White holds himself with a lot of dignity and authority which this unkempt and uncoordinated look detracts from, which, for me, can undermine the likeness somewhat. This second factor is why my favourite look at the figure so far is in this image (despite the terrible angle and positioning of the head sculpt and the state of its hair) as the more carefully positioned robe gives hints to the different layers, both in fabric and tone, of this costume - it lets Asmus show off their work a little more generously.

On a positive note I feel like he isn't quite so tanned in this image and the video its from on Sideshow - or is that just me?

This is looking really nice. Will have to see final shots. There's also the looming possibility of an InArt announcement. My only issue is with Shadowfax's synthetic mane. Why not use the same material as Gandalf's hair?

Moan moan moan

since when are figure display ready straight from the box ? They all need a bit of posing, hair sorting, water treatment.

im beyond excited for this and shadowfax is stunning.
Its not moaning to call a spade a spade - the hair is messy in ALL the pics shared so far and in all the pics Asmus has shared specifically the white cloak covers up the entire figure to the point you cant see any details.
In fact the entire second half of my post was pointing out an instance where the figure looks much nicer and addresses the over-tanned complaints many people had about Asmus' image as well.

So should I NOT point out how Asmus can better show off a figure that I have repeatedly called very nice from what we can see?
Or should we all merely imitate clapping seals and praise all we see without critique or comment?
