I don't particularly like the Hobbit.

But I like Thorin and Martin Freeman's Bilbo. And those I will happily add to my collection.

Personally I do like the Hobbit films even though they are entirely different from the LOTR series. However, I had no intention of purchasing any Hobbit figures, until I saw Bilbo, just looks so good. Now, I REALLY had no intentions of getting Thorin as he was my least favorite representation of the dwarves in the films, but I know if Asmus makes more dwarves and I miss this one I will regret it.

So, TL;DR I just po'd Thorin even though I wasn't planning on it.

*Grins* Hobbit Thorin is my favorite Middle Earth character. I wasn't planning on any of the LOTR group but ending up with 2 Gimlis and tracked down a Legolas...:google
needless to say more than one Thorin is on order.:monkey3

And I'll get Eomer when I get a breather $$$$. First year ASMUS is getting more money from me than HT. But - Middle Earth is timeless. I figure nothing like these will ever be made again, and it took an up and coming young company to do Middle Earth movies in 1/6:clap. HT could've I guess, but they didn't bother.

Same here. Middle Earth is timeless for me. I don’t see HTs ever doing them because the market for them doesn’t make it worth their time and effort. I think the only reason we are seeing them now is the Asmus’ owner or someone high in their company is a huge LOTR fan. I think it is a labor of love for them. I just hope it’s making enough money for them that the line lasts for years to come.

Agree! Tho years from now - and I don't collect as an investment - I can see Middle Earth being re-booted and these carefully made figs being sought after. Another company may make Middle Earth figures but would they be affordable?, or made with the same details and care (mad respect for the costumes and weapons ASMUS has put out - down to Bilbo's acorn buttons:clap.)

Besides, IMO LOTR and the Hobbit films had stellar casts, reflected in the figures. In any case - and love my HTs and Hot Toys has set a standard, of sorts - lately beginning to think ASMUS is topping HT:cool:. Like, it would have been nice if IW Cap spears (Proxima Midnight and Glaive) had been diecast, esp. Midnight re possible breakage (and coolness factor).

And Thorin is coming with Orcrist AND Deathless. The Oakenshield. If he's like Gimli he won't need a stand to pose. Layers of costume. However this plays out from a financial perspective, ASMUS can take real pride in what they've done and going back and fixing issues, engaging with fans, and really working at improvements.:clap

When exactly is Thorin scheduled to be released?

Just checked my SSC order and with them 1st quarter 2019. Originally I think Thorin was supposed to come before Bilbo but *shrug*. I'd rather wait and have ASMUS
do whatever they need to. Also, shipping changes have messed everyone up I think; e.g. stuffing ships full before moving to beat 2019 rate changes:

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/10/trump-changes-terminal-dues-and-epacket-rates/573337/

also: https://safety4sea.com/operating-costs-in-shipping-to-increase-over-2018-and-2019/

Tho I've got a Thorin ordered direct w. ASMUS and that worked pretty well with Bilbo. Assume I will get that Thorin soonest. ASMUS probably knows after the Frodo eye color problems to make sure production gets it right:horror. I wouldn't be too happy if I opened the box and the blue-eyed Thorin/Richard Armitage suddenly had dark brown eyes:(:slap (even if that happened to Legolas in LOTR films but he's a *magical elf* so....:monkey3)

Received and paid my invoice for Thorin...still waiting on the invoice for Bilbo, oddly.

Thorn unboxing from Asmus's Facebook page. He looks wonderful! Invoice paid and now the waiting begins :)

Blown away by this. I missed the window on Gimli as I was waiting for a few more rewards to roll in. So glad I turned around and spent them on Thorin. Need to wait for in hand, but this might be Asmus's best yet. So happy to see the pipe and key too!

Wow... Thorin looks to be Asmus BEST figure to date.

:clap

I haven't delved into The Hobbit yet... but this figure is mighty tempting. Mighty tempting.

Paid for mine. Hopefully it won't take too long for him to ship out.

I wish I could pay for mine...had a down payment at ASMUS but no e-mail yet ):

One of my top most-wanted figures, ever....:bounce:drool:drool:drool:pray::impatient:

Now that I have "The Hobbit" version of Bilbo, I feel that I need Thorin to accompany him on display, as he's the only figure I have from that trilogy (all others are from LotR...)

You should email them, I didn’t receive a payment request and when I contacted them they said they sent it....which they did not. Asked them to send it again and no reply yet

Thank you, I will do that...I know their system was messed up when I first made the PO for Thorin

does purchasing directly from Asmus get you the figures earlier?

Seems to - shipping 'round the world seems to be pretty messed up right now tho. I'd spring for faster (more expensive) shipping if u r in hurry.

Heard from ASMUS and they say they sent invoice - had to ask them to re-send; it isn't anywhere):
