Asmus Toys : Gandalf the Grey

I’m fine buying GTG 2.0 if no head only option is released. I’m sure it’ll be a Slim that doesn’t include everything that came with first version and whatever’s upgraded, keep and sell the rest to cover some costs. Looking forward to GTW and hopefully a Saruman rooted beard sculpt as well.

Damn I hope so. I have the first version but I’d love a nice LOTR style head with a beard of Gimli-quality! I’d happily pay for an expansion pack with the head and any extras they do for V2 (I bought all the other expansions too so why stop now!)

Late to the party but wondering if there is a place other than eBay to find the Asmus figures now. Is there a marketplace subforum here to buy and sell figures?

I can create space in my home office for six figures, which I hope will be Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Looks like I can probably still pick up most of those guys on eBay except Gandalf. Gandfalf may well be end up being the Holy Grail character. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

Any general recommendations about starting such a collection at this point when they're all sold out? Best versions to get? E.g., from YT video reviews I've seen, it looks to me like there is significant improvement for The Hobbit version of Gandalf versus the LotR one. Is the same the case for The Hobbit Legolas and the LotR version of him? Updated (by Asmus) or custom head sculpts? Etc.

BBTS still has Gimli and deluxe Legolas (w. troll head). I only have the slim Legolas as I didn't need the troll head. I think there is only one version of Legolas - e.g. the only difference is the troll head display. Sometimes you can get new figs via Amazon as well.

I never owned Gandalf the White. I luv my Gandalf the Grey and will buy another if ASMUS does a rooted version.

Far as I know right now on the 'bay u'll pay a premium for Aragorn and GTG. Suggest tho if you can pay retail for the others to pick up while u can as ASMUS doesn't have huge runs of figs. ASMUS may re-release Gandalf but developing and releasing a fig takes time. Legolas I think is only still available 'coz the hair - but IMO while the paint is too thick - on the shelf IMO he's fine.

I'd also read all the hobbit threads re comments.

Forgive my ignorance as I'm new to collecting these Asmus LotR and The Hobbit figures, but am I understanding correctly that there will be a second release by Asmus of Gandalf the Grey? An updated version?

Since this one turned out to be Gandalf from The Hobbit, many asked for LOTR Gandalf. There’s a really good sculpt from the early stages of this one that looked like the one everyone was hoping to get, they teased an updated version of that. It was never stated, if I recall correctly, whether it would be a whole boxed figure, a Slim version, or just an expansion pack.
