I think this looks great. I prefer sculpted hair when done right. Rooted hair looks weird. Makes me wonder why the skin isn't real skin...

Also, nice ass.

I agree, I also want a Thranduil and that version with his Elk would be an awesome piece.

Asmus Toys reveals their first look at Tauriel from The Hobbit trilogy

I'm expecting Weta to make Thranduil in armor on the great elk. While it would be cool as a figure, I would hope Asmus tackles other rides, like Wargs before doing that elk. I imagine that's a looooong shot, tho Asmus has already proven to be brave when it comes to 1/6 beast production. Hopefully their horses go over well.

I can't imagine Asmus will tackle Thranduil's elk. At least with the horses, they could re-purpose the sculpt and molds for other horses. Makes a fair bit of economic sense. But the elk would have to be a one-off -- (not to mention ENORMOUS!) -- which I imagine would make it less likely. Just my two cents.

Now, Dain's pig, on the other hand, might be small enough to be a feasible add-on. Especially if they went with a non-articulated version.

I think for a first look that is super promising. It does look more to me like Liv so don't throw away what you got, someone can probably modify that into Arwen. I would buy her how she looks now so as long as you improve from here, I'm sold. If you can tighten/conform her bodice a bit though that would be appreciated.

I would vote for both sculpted and rooted hair sculpts to be included but if it is one or the other, then rooted for sure. I prefer to put my figures into action poses and change them up at least every couple of months... it is exactly why I buy figures and don't collect any statues, I want to put them in as many different poses as possible and sculpted hair of any length restricts movement and has a tendency to look odd in many of the poses it does allow.

Rooted is fine by me -- as is the mix of rooted and sculpted -- but the idea of including one of each head would be really cool! I'd pay more for that!

Agreed. If you want Thranduil in his armor with his elk, keep an eye on Weta. They're your best hope.

Asmus should probably focus on getting figures out first before focusing on the creatures. So i take that back about the Elk, warg, and pig.

Yep, that's how she should look, coloring wise.

Asmus: please go more burnt orange with the hair coloring and real hair. Not the reddish fuchsia.

I don't know if this is a dumb question or not. I wonder if they are going with that color because it is the closest color the vendor that is supplying the hair
has on hand? I would imagine manufacturing a custom hair color would be more expensive then going with a hair color that the vendor already has in stock?

There is a huge selection of synthetic hair colors on the market to choose from (for example), I don't know why this could be a problem, maybe... Or it is just wrong color balance on these photos.

I hope Tauriel comes out good I very much want her but I do agree change the hair color to a burnt orange. Once I see photos and if good enough i'm buying her.
