I'm really irked right now. My friend bought his copy of ACII for 360 today and I was over for a bit while he was playing, and I noticed how much better the game ran on 360 compared to PS3. Graphically it looked the same, but when it came to framerate and screen tearing, the 360 seemed much more proficient.

Dammit.

So does the second one have captions for the hearing impaired?

the first one didn't so all the yadda yadda yadda was useless to me.....

I wasn't a big fan of the first one as I found there was very little game play involved. Each assassination was preceded by the same monotonous ease drop pick pocket whatever it was then take out the target. Collecting what appeared to be hundreds of flags provided no use aside from roaming around the place. And of course enjoying the game was hard when after every damn assassination they pulled you out of the animus to rest.

All of that crap is gone now thankfully, while the game plays much the same as before there is far more to do and there is reason to do it, upgrading weapons and armor, aquiring larger pouches to carry more knives and potions. The various upgrades to your hidden blades are a nice touch as well.

On the whole this game feels like well a game, the last one just felt like the game was about 20 minutes and then you got to repeat that 20 minutes like 10 more times and that was it. Nothing new or exciting upon the start of another mission, no reason to not just go on with the next mission as there was nothing to do.

I have the PS3 version and haven't noticed any of those problems. :horror

Problems with your Bluray player? :dunno

I hate to say it, but I think my PS3 is starting to die itself. It freezes up regularly now and hiccups all the time while playing. I'm sad because its a 60GB and I love the full backwards compatibility and know there's no way to get another one short of buying a used one on ebay or Craigslist.

UGH! Good luck! I ran out and bought the 60 GB version as soon as I found out that they were taking it off the market.

Me too. I got the last one that my local Gamestop had. Luckily I was friends with the guys working there so when I told them I wanted one it was hiding in the back with my name on it.

I hope not! :horror Well, I don't think I'm having problems because other games work perfectly.

They aren't problems, per se. The PS3 version just doesn't run as well. I read this comparison article from vgchartz yesterday, it's really comprehensive, and their results mirrored my feelings on the matter:

(The comparison video is really worth watching)

Yes, it has captions in multiple languages. (the English captions also translate the Italian dialogue).

My problem with these comparison pics is that the PS3 Images look washed out, when they look nothing like that on my PS3, plus it been running fine so far.

A lot of people say that the PS3 has better frame rate than the Xbox and XBox has better lighting :dunno

Maybe the glitching effect could be caused by the TV too, a bit like when some people get screen judder on a blu-ray movie.

I can provide more sources, they all have very similar results. The PS3 version does not run as smoothly as the 360. The "lens of truth" team have done many many comparison articles and they're generally reliable. I'm not sure who the people you're referring to are, but I generally disagree, having seen both versions running. I'm generally inclined to trust this because in the history of multi-platform games, there are a known large number that do not perform as well on the PS3 platform. (recently, Dragon Age)

The article I posted above contains a video in which you can see the differences more clearly. If you just look at the images, all you'll see are the differences in color - the PS3 version's contrast levels are different than 360, something that can't be fixed internally on the system but is something you can fix by adjusting your TV's colors to match - but that's not what I'm talking about today. You won't notice the screen tearing unless you watch that video. And it's not a glitching effect. I don't want to explain screen tearing in detail, so I'll just assume that you know generally what it is.

Look, usually when someone talks about an issue like this, the first reaction is that the user has done something wrong and that "my version plays fine". But unless they've seen the alternative, then of course they think theirs looks fine, which it is. It's not a huge deal, but it's still disappointing that the PS3 version of a lot of games still drag behind.

Are there any flags or anything? Or just standard achievements? I want achievements/flags for my PC version (stupid March release date...)

~LoA

No, they're better than those damn useless flags in AC1 because the collectible stuff in AC2 actually rewards you with good, useful things.

Technical issues aside, I'm loving this game. I've put about 20 hours into it and it still has legs, I think.

Got the White Edition a few days ago, and I'm loving this game! Definitely better and much more impressive than the first. Apparently I've only played 9 hrs so far, but it feels like I've played a lot more.

Yeah I am loving this game. Although I am finding it hard to follow the story. LOL! I get sidetracked doing side missions and then when I get back to the main story I'm like WTF is going on here. :lol
