I've gone back to finish AC:R and it's amazing how much of a jump graphically and gameplay-wise AC3 is. I think we remember the older game being better than they are. AC:R just feels clunky and video-gamey next to AC3. AC3's flow and HUD are just sooo much better than the older games. I have to admit that even the controls are better in AC3 for the changes they made.

It really is a pretty good game but AC2 is where the overall gameplay got much better.
:lecture IMO AC2 is the biggest jump overall between one game to the next. Almost like they threw AC out there to test the waters, and then fixed everything that people hated about it in AC2. After that they just fine tuned it and added more tidbits here and there.

I like them all equally for me it's

AC1 = Style, favourite assassin
AC2 = Story, map
ACB = Training, weapons
ACR = Weapons, Altair parts
AC3 = Best graphics, best animation, good desmond missions

:goodpost:

I finished ACR last month and started on AC3. While the graphics are fantastic, I am not liking the style of game play too much. There are no choices! It is simply a matter of "go here", "do this", rinse and repeat. Very boring so far. I am still only about a 1/3 of the way through (I am learning how to hunt as the teenager). I hear it gets better, but so far it has been a major disappointment.

I am taking a break from it and started FC3. That game ikicks @ss!

Just so you know, you haven't even started the game yet. :lecture

Anyone else playing The Tyranny of George Washington DLC ?

First 2 parts are out (part 3 before the end of month)

I only downloaded because I had the season pass already so it was 'free'. But I'm surprised how good it is. I'm really digging it.

...and Connor's costume is way better than anything in AC3 and what he should have worn in the main game!

If i understand this post correctly, you are saying AC3 is better than previous games because of the graphics? Do the previous games having a better story, protagonist, characters and settings not count for anything?!

AC3 is better for basic controls, graphic variety, animations, menu systems, everything. It really is amazing to see the jump. And I'd say AC3 is better storwise that AC:R.

Just quoting myself here ...but I'm now into part 2 of The Tyranny of George Washington and loving it.

Feels like what Assassins Creed 3 should have been to REALLY seperate it from the Ezio trilogy.

Definitely check it out if you haven't already!

I finished the main part of the game today, so I can come back to this thread :D

Spoilers allowed in here yet? For now I'll put what I want to say under spoiler tags.

I thought Connor was cool. Nice change from a charming Ezio. Connor did seem kinda, I don't know, naive, or simple minded, but that's cool. Nice contrast to the other assassin's. The twist at the beginning with Haytham was a nice surprise. Didn't really see that coming.

I was pretty excited seeing Desmond with a gun. The hidden blade in a modern setting, seemed kinda silly to me, so it was cool seeing him get a gun with silencer. I didn't know I wouldn't be able to replay that level on my game save, once I completed the main part of the game. Doh.

I wanted (later on in the series) a whole game where Desmond was the main playable character, & giving him a gun was a step towards what I wanted, but then they do what they did to him at the end? Lame. Or will there be more of Desmond (somehow) later on? Hmmm.

Was the game too easy though? Maybe. Assassinations also kinda felt less .... what's the word? Epic?

Overall though, fun game.
Not 100% synced yet, but I plan on playing a bunch more :D
