Thanks man! I thought it could a be a great place for people to hone their crafts and share ideas and skills. And it saves money for those who are brave enough to hit the brushes and work on expensive collectibles. :duff

Strip a sculpt

Soak the sculpt in Pine Sol, leave it over night, then scrub with a denture brush. Done

Clean your brushes, or airbrush with blue washer fluid. Breaks up acrylic paint like acid

Anyone use Mr Color paints by Gunze Sangyo? Acrylics suspended in a solvent? I hear it's better than standard acrylics. Any work here?

Yes and yes and all no... :lol

First it depends on the hands you want to use. Second sometime you have to do small changes but its very simple.

For example:I used some Marvel Legends (that 12" Punisher) hands because I really liked them. I just took the standard HT peg (the olde one) put it into the body (reserve) and put the glove on it. Perfect.

Just look at the hands and the body and you will know how to combine it.

CASTING QUESTION

I have to cast a HT Muscular body for a project and I am really afraid that the body which is made of rubber will connect with the silicon/mold... What do you guys think? Is it likely to happen? Did anybody ever cast a muscular body? Is there something that I can use (oil or sth. else) to prevent the body but not lose too much detail???

Those longer hands won't fit, they are both BBI figure hands. The only way I know of to do it is to use a HT wrist adapter and glue the end that goes into the hand together with the hand itself... of course AFTER cutting out the old peg that was in there.

This is why I use Dragon bodies, because the hand options are so wide ranging. I hate HT bodies because all you can get are modern gloved hands, usually short.. or plain human hands. They don't have much versatility due to the small selection. Add that to the fact that it is very hard to find a body with hands and feet attached... AND people sell hands with no adapters.. causing you to have to buy hands, adapters, feet AND the actual body... which adds up.

I hate it.

yeah thats what sucks about the ht bodys. im pretyt new to customizing but i did pick up on that fact, that the majority of hot toys bodys and hands and feet and the pegs needed are all sold seperatly. which does suck!! same goes for the neck adapter forthe head sculpts.

as ofr the gloves, i did think of that, getting some bbi/dragon hands and cutting the pegs out then using glue to stick the hot toys peg on at 1 end, still enabling the hands to be moved.

the other thing i jst found out is t hat the black gloves that the sideshow darth maul figure comes with fit the ht bodys perfectly, but its jst getting some sideshow darth maul cgloved hands that some 1 has spare!

I got a question about fixing paint dust. I don't think that is the correct term? What I mean exactly, is that a dirt or dust landed on the part when the person was painting the figure/part. Actually I know it is not really avoidable from factory, but is it possible to fix such flaws?

just wanted to ask, if iwere to get a denim jacket at 1/6 scale that was bulky on the figure would the water method work to make it hang better and look less bulky??

I have a question maybe someone can help me with. I sculpted a piece from super sculpte, I am planning on making a mold from it and casting a few. It will be a few days until I get the stuff to do the mold. In the meantime, will it hurt to go ahead and paint my original piece up? Will the paint interfere with the molding process?

Can anyone recommend a good, moderately priced set of paints in UK to paint 1/6 with?

Preferably an eBay link. I would like to get started, but want a good set to see what I am capable of.

Ta.

I would wait till you cast your molds and paint the resin copies. I think the paint takes better to resin than sculpy.

First off, about the Obi Wan parts, I'm not really sure. I would say that you could just cut them at an unnoticeable spot and reglue when you put it back together. You would probably need inhibitor for that, to make sure it held correctly without having to hold it yourself for a few minutes.

And PZ... no worries on painting something prior to molding as long as your paint is very thin and not lumpy... it should be fine. I've done it a few times myself, no issues yet.

Wondering if anyone can help me out. Im looking for a pair of 1/6 brown dress shoes and all I can find is black. Is there anyway I could paint a pair of black shoes brown and if so what kind of paint should I use and how should I do it? thanks

New Line Miniatures make a brown dress shoe. The quality is amazing. I use their stuff exclusively.
