Watched Batman Begins again all the way through for the first time in quite a while. Man, how can people have an either/or attitude with this and the MCU? What a fine freaking film. So well done. The flashbacks to his dad with the stethoscope are truly heart tugging moments and the triple resolution of defeating Ra's, buying out Rutger Haur and earning Rachel's respect all within a few minutes of each other made for an incredibly satisfying finale.

Jon Favreau was even quoted as saying that one of his main inspirations for the first Iron Man was Nolan's approach to Batman. The MCU as we know it literally wouldn't exist without it.

Thank You- Nolan set the pace- no one gives him credit- he is the real trendsetter but MCU guys deny it.

I've gotta admit that I don't see much of Nolan's influence on Iron Man. But all of these movies are influence by comic movies that came before on some level, I'm sure. Before Iron Man, there certainly wasn't a huge wellspring of fairly serious, dramatic comic movies to look to for inspiration, and Begins was at the top of that heap.

Favreau said that he really liked how Peter Jackson and Chris Nolan took fantasy subject matter and filmed it as if it was any other movie in a "respectable" genre. You know, film the medieval action like it was Braveheart or the crime stuff like it was Heat or whatever. That's what he was getting at.

Favreau also said that the thing that excited him most about IM2 was having Stark and Rhodes slug it out in Tony's Malibu mansion because "a really good superhero fight had never been done in a mansion before."

4th watch finished and this truly gets better each time. Every time there will be a scene that I only found as ok last time, but is great this time. Awesome flick but still wish there was 15-20 minutes more to it.

Such a tight race this year. As much as I love AoU it almost pains me to say that it might still only be my third favorite film so far this year. Forgive me jye. :(

It's all good Khev,

I still need to see FR a few more times to let it all soak in.

EM was a great slow burn of a movie.

AOU is still my #1 because all of the MCU coming together to give us great coloful superheros.

It resonates very strongly with me.

While I absolutely love Road Warrior, the best car action movie ever made (FU Fast and Furious), it was the superhero comic books that I grew up with.

But i'm excited to revist FR soon.

You know what, I totally hear you. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Captain America, those have all been burned into my soul since childhood. But what I've found over the years for myself is that if I do allow new films to dethrone my favorite franchises then I always remember what truly made me love my old favorites in the first place AND I can still enjoy that glee of experiencing something that is brilliant and new the way we first reacted to SW or superheroes when we were kids.

Back in the day I dared to let "ALIENS" dethrone ROTJ. It kind of felt like I was betraying myself at first, ha ha. But then ALIENS became a part of me, and now I have ESB and ALIENS kind of right next to each other. Will Ex Machina or Fury Road stand the test of time? Who knows. But man, those two flicks, right now they are just so unbelievably brilliant to me. And they'll either be another ALIENS or they'll fade and I'll just keep playing with my Cap and Ultron toys. :lol

I never noticed how Capt America's hair changed styles. In TFA, he had a 1940's hairstyle, in Avengers he had a bad wig for some reason, but it was still a 1940's haircut, but then in TWS, he has a modern haircut, same goes for Avengers 2. Yup, never noticed that...:lol

I'm not sure he wore wigs. He has a full head of hair. They probably put a lot of brylcream or whatever it's called in it. I always noticed how pale he was.

Hoping to see this again this weekend. Mom hasn't seen it yet. 2D viewing. I'll probably see Mad Max this weekend as well.
