I can always see the LEDGER in the JOKER. Every time.
Don't tell me he's not there. He is.
And he is here too.

Kudos to this sculptor, whoever they are. :rock

Yeah, I don't understand when people say The Joker didn't look like Heath. I never had a problem seeing him underneath the paint.

this is amazing!!! I will be the 1st in line to get this if they do a 1/6 version. How much would it be if the sculpter did a 1/6 one?

Yeah, I don't understand when people say The Joker didn't look like Heath. I never had a problem seeing him underneath the paint.

When Michael Caine first saw Heath on set as the Joker he didn't even recognize him. He said he saw him coming out of an Elevator and was so shocked, he jumped.

Anyway, some see Heath, others don't.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Ledger had a slight appliance across parts of his forehead, but I could be wrong.

I just found out the other day that a friend of mines spouse was one of those who applied the Joker make-up. I'll have to quiz him more and see what he knows about it.

A great sculpt by the way. I'd also love a 1/6th scale version of it If he ever felt the need to do one. :D

I heard that too. But please talk to him and let us know. If you can get any pics of Heath with the scars on, but not the white make-up, I'm sure many of the sculptors here like Chris Howes would be very greatful as it would help them sculpt more accurately without having to sift through the clown make-up.

There is a dialogue brewing that says, that this makeup looks nothing like Ledger, yet IT IS HEATH LEDGER.
It must resemble HEATH LEDGER.

Gone are the days of toys that look randomly like whoever they are supposed to be. We as collectors have become a really savvy lot now. We want our figures and statues etc., to not resemble a given performer, but BE that performer.
The beauty of this piece is that is looks like Ledger. Yes, the wrinkles are a tad overdone, that happens in interpretation, but the likeness is there, hence all this response.
Linda Blair was pretty obscured by her demon makeup in The Exorcist. But, if the base sculpt doesn't look like her, with makeup on, then it doesn't matter. Gone is that eerieness. Same exact thing here.
This was a young man, 28, with minor facial appliances, not as much as you'd think, and some very contrasty makeup effects on his face. Just white, black and red. Some greenish tint to his hair. That's it. HE is the performance, and it is HIS face we all see. Every time.

It's called the Art of Illusion. Wonderfully done here. A landmark even.
So, yes, it must look just like Ledger for us to react. This does come pretty darned close. Only really new thing, is a twist to the mouth, nice that, and more, looser bits of hair. That's it. Otherwise, standard depiction. Not even a really new expression. No open mouth or jarringly new aspect. Just a nice, really well done sculpt.

WELL SAID... and I totally agree. :clap

The Joker IS Ledger and Ledger is the Joker. There is not mistaking it as you watch the film, I know I see Ledger in there throughout the film. Any sculpt that is made of the Joker has to have a little Ledger in there to look accurate, no doubting that. It's unavoidable. This sculptor did a pretty damn good job of bringing out that look, kudos to him for being able to do it. :rock

There is a pic like that in one of the threads in here, I believe in the C.Howes thread.

Oh I can tell you now that it will be highly unlikely that they'd have any photos. Stuff like that is highly controlled and a make-up artist would get a really bad rep If they let something like that onto the web. *ETA* Yeah, there is that make-up image already out there. I wonder where that came from?

I tried ringing the mate who told me on his mobile just now, but it was on answer phone. I'll try again later on and see what he remembers this person saying to him. He's not a fan and has a brain like a sieve sadly.

Thats too bad. I know of that one, but figured more would only help.

Even if he can't give them to you, or whatever, I would have thought the make-up guy would have at least one or two photos of their work just so they can be consistant in applying them on set each day.

They take continuity shots, but nobody worth their salt would be unprofessional enough to let them out just like that. Shots are taken for the benefit of the production, rather then the individual, and so anything like that altermatically belongs to WB rather then the person who took it.

I know If I had let any images out even after all this time from my work on Harry Potter I would have been up for a world of pain.

Exactly. All that is the property of WB/DC. Those Guys would get fired or maybe even sued if they pulled that.

I suppose that is true. But even then, I hope the studios can provide at least Hot Toys with some of those kind of reference pics for their next Joker(s).

Yeah, I don't understand when people say The Joker didn't look like Heath. I never had a problem seeing him underneath the paint.

I disagree. I only saw him when his make-up was coming off. Other then that, he was quite hard to see. If someone asked me "What actor played the Joker" without me knowing, i would've had no idea.

Sue would you be able to direct me to this "leaked" pic of the make-up?...would make my life so much easier in doing my friends costume for halloween and conventions...lol, right now i'm stuck on how many pieces are needed :(

Here ya go.

Re the make up. I had a quick word with my mate and he said that Ledger did indeed have a brow piece, which I have to say doesn't appear to be evident in the above shot for some reason.

He was rather vague about it all because to be perfectly frank he's really not interested in the film at all. But he said when he goes into work next week he'll ask one of the people who worked on the bat suit who'd probaly know.

Someone photoshop some makeup on that blank shot above.

Already did. Just playing around the other day. NOT movie accurate, I did it out of my head for an exercise, Need to do more actually to be better.
But as a followup tonight, I did put a comparision of two shots side by side as a backup for you guys also. Bear in mind his expression and face is pulled a bit differently in that comparison.
