So I'm thinking of ways to display this thing.

Obviously normal display cases are not going to be an option, so I am exploring using a TV stand as a base and then building an acrylic display case around it (including the bottom for support) to display.

These are some relatively cheap ones I found at Target. They are a smidgen thinner than the Batmobile itself, but I figure with a base of the case it should hold it nicely.

I can easily imagine this holding it securely, with room underneath for extra storage!

Re: will batman 89 be able to sit inside the batmobile??

the real question is

Will Batman's rubber suit not have rotted away until the release of the batmobile next year??

Re: will batman 89 be able to sit inside the batmobile??

Reminds me of when McFarlane Toys announced they had the AKIRA license back in 2000. I was so freaking excited. Until they showed the prototypes at Toy Fair and it was evident that Kaneda could in no possible way ride his bike. The McF reps said the figure was desigined to just "stand next to" the bike. What a rip-off!

The next year, after we had all bought the figure and bike separately, they released a special boxed version (twice as expensive of him actually RIDING the bike. Double dipped.

So my fear is that Hot Toys might pull something similar. We all know there is no way the Batman figure can get into a sitting position, and trying to get him in one just might rip that rubber suit right in half!!

Yet the pics clearly show a Batman torso and head and hands on the steering wheel.

But the sales copy says "in scale with Batman figure"....could just mean he'll look great standing next to it!?

Also says "prototype only...subject to change." And "figure not included" so I think that we can forget about having a dedicated Batman torso figure included with the car.

They can always claim it was just a prototype and that the actual figure can't fit in the car....which would be a rotten thing to do.

Hot Toys is so detail oriented though....hopefully they can make this work. They have about a year to iron out the kinks....maybe the answer is making a ton of extra hollow space under the driver's seat so Batman can kind of lay in there?

I don't know....doesn't look likely he'll be able to fit at all, despite the press pics. Maybe they will pull a McF and double dip....making us all buy another Batman figure by Q2 2013.

I'm already aboard for a Returns version....maybe that one is engineered to fit and the 89 version is just outta luck?

i will put it in my 48" curio, good thing the height is very low so shouldnt be too bad.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

This is how Im planning on displaying my three.

1. Classic 89 Bats standing next to it, with cocoon next to it.

2. 89 Bats in seat, with Joker doing a pose next to the car and cocoon.

3. Returns Bats next to or inside with car doing a Returns gimmick with any HT figures of Returns they make.

My other 3 89 Bats will be displayed each with one face and in certain poses. Along with another Joker.

Re: will batman 89 be able to sit inside the batmobile??

So the figure has feelings? Will he be comfortable?

Lmao hahahahahaha.

If it doesn't fit Ill just spit on it I'll make it fit

I think thats the idea.
You get a year to pose him standing and at that point the rubber around the crotch will crack and come apart allowing you to easily sit him in the car.

Hot Toys are crafty geniuses !

$566 at Cornerstore comics. YES!!!

I know I am getting it, what's got my heart racing is, should I go for the Tumbler, too? I've always been satisfied with the Tyco Tumbler, Even if the Canopy doesn't open it is still to display with Batman. Decisions! Decisions!

Re: will batman 89 be able to sit inside the batmobile??

What about something like this? Instead of describing it I thought I'd throw this together real quick to illustrate.

That would be pretty simple wouldn't it? Surely it couldn't cost that much to produce if you just take the molds from the existing figure but lose the swappable mouths and PERS features. If they were worried about collectors trying to double dip, they could always mount the head and gauntlets down to make them non-removable. They could even lose the belt if they wanted to really keep costs low.

I hope it sells out too. That way we will get more price ____ to buy.

I don't believe that the Batmobile is going to sell out any time soon, heck not even on release date. Judging from the price point, Hot Toys might be producing the Batmobiles based on how many pre-orders they receive for a certain time. They'll want to make as many of these as they can, to accumulate as much profit as possible :lol.

As much as I like the Tumbler this one just feels more like a Batmobile should. I sure wish I had the room for it.
