Hello,
For some years I have been collecting full size 1:1 Batman 89 weapons and gadgets, and when I finally amassed the complete set, I thought I needed a great way to display them.
So last April I headed to my hardware store and bought some MDF and set to work replicating the door to the Batsuit vault in the Batcave. It took me a couple of months working on it in my spare time.
After carving out all the pieces and assembling, it has a resin coating all over for hardness and durability. The details such as the lock deadbolts, hand wheel, nuts & bolts and cross bars are all metal. A few other accents are machined Delrin.
All in all it stands around 4.5 feet tall and weighs around 140 lbs fully populated with all the gear. Due to space, I opted to go for around 90% scale rather than full size. No plans to build the full vault itself or the suit.
The provenance of the props is as follows:
Batarang - Ikon Design Studio, metal
Gauntlet, grapnel darts, ninja wheels, smoke capsules - Guido “GermanBat” Kohlen, all metal & glass
Speargun - SDTUDIOS, all metal
Bat Tracker & Speargun Tranquilizer attachment - ValorProps, 3D printed
Time Bomb - Steel
Chest Emblem - 3 piece metal assembly
Also shown next to it is my 89 Utility Belt made from a HenryWayne 2-piece locking buckle and a real 1988 Chevy molding trim strap (same as original)
Thanks for looking
