I just don't understand why people see hot toys as "dolls." They usually nail the likeness and sideshow usually doesn't, like in this case. With that being said this statue is really impressive from the neck down.

To me no matter how great the likeness is, a Hot Toy is still a toy, and to me a toy is a doll. As an adult I will only collect statues.

So if they weren't posable, how would you feel?

I think what everyone means is that in essence they are just big dolls. Girls call them dolls, guys call them action figures and in the end they are just that. You've never had a girl call your GI Joes "dolls for boys". The "doll" comment has been around for decades. Nothing new. Regardless of whether theyre poseable or not.

But if they aren't posable then they're statues. The only thing that people don't like is the fact you can move the joints even though it's the same quality as a premium format.

Most Hot Toys are 1:6 scale while PF's are 1:4 scale. And PF's are made out of polystone, not plastic. PF collectors feel the polystone has the look and feel of a higher end collectible.

I'm pretty sure they're not all polystone. Wasn't Boba Fett plastic? So pretty much it's just apples to oranges.

The one with superior likeness? Are you just trolling man? Cause honestly I wouldn't call it a toy. They clearly aren't meant to be played with.

Not trolling at all. One is made by a company called HOT TOYS!!! They are just like GI Joes, Barbies, and action figures

1/4 pf is statue perfection

You have to be really ignorant not to see the art in some Hot Toys, just as you'd have to be equally ignorant not to see the art in PFs. They're just different. One isn't lesser. They both have pros and cons.

Hot toys does excellent facial sculpts, the rest, mostly, is just material fitted over a cookie cutter 1/6 body with joints. So the artistry is really in the face and fabric. Statues are sculpts, if media is involved yhe the sculpt must be executed so the fabric or mayerial still shows the piece as the artist envisioned. There are exceptions on both sides but that is how I view "action figures" vs. statues.

Thank you for a rational opinion hahaha. All I did was ask what the GP prefers and I got attacked!

Thats well said.

Sorry if I offended anyone who enjoys playing with their dolls.

Not gonna lie, I wish PFs could have much better headsculpts at the level of hot toys especially human characters. They trump 1/6 stuff all day long in the presence department though.
