basically.....that's a shame
Being a Keaton PF, that's a pretty big flaw
I haven't visited the thread but do know the Batman PF has been shipping. Is it the same old SS with bad QC? Or no problems? I really don't want to deal with SS ****ty QC again after Ivy.
Actually, I agree the Hot Toys DX 09 is has this thing beat by a mile. That face sculpt looks nothing like Keaton, hell even the 1990 Kenner action figure pulled off a better Keaton face than this PF does. Not to mention the body armor looks entirely too bulky for the '89 costume. People who pay PF prices expect a pretty dead on representation of the character is supposed to look like. The Henry Cavill Superman PF wasn't exactly a win either. Personally I think Sideshow should stick to the comic style and let Hot Toys handle the film related work.
I agree with you both. This is probably going to be the most expensive commercially sold version of Keaton Batman ever, but that obviously does not automatically translate to the most worth it / best version. I understand there was a lot of anticipation among PF collectors and even some Keaton fans, but even as a Keaton fan, I can admit that what I've seen does not entice me at all. There is a lot of artistic interpretation going on for a figure that is supposed to be based on a real guy in a real suit. Keaton was never able to turn his head anywhere near to that angle in either of his cowls. The stone Batcave steps are a creative idea for a stand, but inaccurate. The 1989 Batcave had no curved stone steps. I think a much more bold and inspired Keaton PF would have been a battle-damaged one lumbering up the steps inside the Cathedral. The scene would be instantly recognizable even with just a few wooden steps and a brick wall. And a weary, dirty, bloodied Batman figure would have been visually more interesting in terms of details and really distinguished this from the pack of other recent Keaton Batman releases (HT and NECA).Hot toys or nothing.

People who collect hot toys barbies thinking they have an authority in this thread, lolz.

Who is the "authority" on this anyway? You? It's not about "authority" it's about opinion and recognizing the best commercially sold scaled down representation of 1989 Keaton Batman to date. Based on what we've seen of SS offering so far, it's not it. They might improve later, but unless the straighten his head and do a complete overhaul of the headsculpt (and body sculpt to slim down that weird frumpy-ness), it's not even a contender. NECA's is the best in it's price range, (heck, Kenner's is the best in it's price range while we're at it) but HT is the best, period. Now, I'm willing to reserve final judgement until I see the final product of course, but the apologists in this thread really remind me of those people that insisted the Cinemaquette Reeve Superman looked great or that the Toynami 89 Batmobile was the most accurate...and then Hot Toys came out with their much better versions, for much cheaper. The Hot Toys version is still the best Keaton Batman. But when someone spends a lot more money on something than a superior, cheaper version (or commits to spend that money), it's understandable that they'd feel pretty defensive when its flaws are called out.
But... His head is turned slightly... It's simply unacceptable
Statues should have a dead straight posture in future, it's what we truly want
How is everyone fighting already? Wait for thursday at least

I will hold off on final judgement until Tuesday and its possible that the Hot Toys version may end up looking better than this, but the Hot Toys already has a flaw already much bigger than this; its a doll.

Daaaaaaaaaaamn!
The ht looks like a nice fig mate but it's not a PF and as such is irrelevant to me. The 'inaccuracy' of being able to slightly turn his head is debatable and actually I couldn't give a **** whether the fig has a slightly turned head or not.

Of course, no piece is perfect, but the two biggest flaws with the HT version are the bulky stock cape and the PERS panel on the back of it's head. Just being a poseable doll is not a strike against it anymore that just being an unposeable [mixed media] statue is a strike against this or any other PF. It's all about how it's implemented, and so far, no one has done it better than HT.
