I can not wait for the PFs and the Comq. to showcased!
I don't understand why some collectors don't like to purchase an item if the ES is higher than, for example 1000 pieces???

then they can't flip it later for more money
Or in some cases you cant even get the amount that you paid for the item... lets say you pay 800 dollars for an item and their is16 of them for sale on ebay for 500 dollars each with no bids.... that happens when sideshow makes 1000's of a certain statue... sometimes more items are made then people willing to purchase them... i dont flip my statues but i do sell older ones to help buy new ones that i prefer...its nice to have that option.
This makes sense to a degree. But it seems crazy to me that someone won't get a piece of a cherished character just because the Ed. is too high? Why collect in the first place if that's your mentality? And this is no way directed at you MGM, just using your example.
Well, you have a point but if the edition size is too high, I find that it's often easy to get the piece for a big bargain down the line either from the Sideshow site in Giftcard/Spook/Black Friday deals etc or on the secondary market. I think part of the premium we pay for these mass produced pieces are for the limited appeal, if it's set too high then you can often get it cheaper. jmo.

The ES is part of the package. Otherwise it would be just some pretty expensive stuff that there is no urgency to buy. It would sit there waiting to be bought and then go on sale.
Some of us prioritize our purchases and use the ES to decide how soon we should purchase. Those of us that think both with our hearts AND wallets have to do it that way.
Edition size is everything. Its part and why alot of people collect things. But its seems the new thing is to act like it dosen't matter. I sold/flipped alot of stuff, but the money goes to another collectible. I think flipping is part of collecting. I purchased this bust, I plan on keeping it, but my feelings my change. And if they do I hope I can atleast get my money back. Now that SS has DC, I assume I'll be selling/flipping alot of older stuff to make room.
I wont place the order till I know the ES.
I agree that edition size is very important. It's not the first thing I consider but I think this line of collecting is nice because many pieces retain value. Part of that is largely due to edition size. As some have mentioned, for those of us limited on space and funds, selling older pieces to fund new ones is just part of the game. Without ES, this would not be possible as a statue would lose value instantly.
Unless its a must have, I will not put down a NRD on TBD ES orders.
