That makes sense. I apologize for the oversight. I should've thought better of that post.

Thanks, Spidey.

I totally got where you are coming from rowan. The issue is that when you look at customs you have to keep certain things in mind.

A)Usually when it comes to it, there is no faster way to get yourself I trouble than to start recasting the work of other artists.

B)The artists in the industry are great guys, but they don't like to have their work stolen. They will help you learn and develop, but they hate swipers.

C)Finally, when the communities get wind what you are doing they will send you packing for the most part.

I could probably do something like what people want with enough time, but it would be an original sculpt with some of the characteristics of the new head, but it would NOT be a recast. In fact I got something on my hardrive right now.

First off, I never said that Sideshow forced me to buy. But let's be honest: in this hobby, you generally can't take a wait and see approach unless you're willing to spend extra money down the road.

But the complaint is that we're getting variants without ever knowing what's actually in the works. Not sure about Ivy, but with Catwoman and Batman multiple people have said that they wouldn't have bought the first if they had known what the second looked like.

I get it, that's business. Sideshow is doing well right now, and people love these collectibles. But from a collector's point of view, it's annoying. And I'm not sure how anyone with budget/space constraints can't be annoyed, but if you're not, then more power to you. Will it completely alienate me as a customer? Certainly not, but it's still kind of aggravating.

And you would probably be even more annoyed if SS told you the Blue Batman was in the works and you held off on the black, and they decided not to produce the blue later on. They can't win, someone will always find something to whine and complain about. Personally I am glad they are giving us so many options.

Well You're Nuts ;)

No Problem

Well those older Marvel pieces were just that... Older..... SSC talents have grown since then... Having said that.... SS has been nailing about every DC piece perfectly. I could care less about Lobo and Wonder Woman as characters... But the sculpts a amazing.

With Marvel they can be hit and miss. Which can be frustrating.

You are the crazy one if you think their Marvel line has I proved over their original Captain America, Thor, or Doom.

Some of us prefer the more modern designs for the most part. However, I don't think the new Doom is better than the original.

Yeah I love that piece.

You honestly think the modern Thor is better than the original? I don't know what you guys are smoking but I couldn't even bring myself to like the modern Cap, let alone compare it to Sideshow's original. To each their own I guess. :dunno

Once the DC line has multiples of mainline characters in different formats people will say the same things and have the same opinions.

The most recent Cap, Punisher & Thor (PFs) look a lot better than previous ones. I'll even give props on all of the Hulks.

Pretty sure it's comparable in that its cap and its a damn good rendition of him. Doesn't mean they are rooted in the same story line but still an amazing head sculpt followed by a pretty dynamic pose. Not sure what 420 you have been smoking bro.

Except for the decal shield though.

An oversight I agree but the new one has facial detail the original only dreams of. So there are pros and cons to both. Just don't think anyone needs to be SMOKING something to compare the two. Oh well.

True, but that is how I wanted to display him and ultimately led to me returning him. Other than that and some QC issues with mine it was great.

Yeah, I have TFA cap and I adore the shields he came with. Extremely well executed. Sad you had to return over a shield.

Yea, that is just how I wanted to display him, what's sad is SS did not give me a shield worthy of display when the other one was so good.

Another thing I find odd is that they cut corners in the strangest ways. Why not charge the customer more money, do the shields right, and when people lose their minds in the forums, have a rep pop in and say guys, the price went up because otherwise the shields we're going to look like ****. Ok, good to know.

The DC line tends to be bang on when it comes to getting it what makes the characters and icon. I think all of the Trinity pieces are just so iconic that they just fit perfectly with the history and looks I imagine. The Marvel lines tend to be more hit and miss. When they are a hit like Gladiator/King Hulk, Skarr, the original Spidey Com, Doom, or the Maybe even the new Hulk PFs then the are just as iconic, but when the miss.... Uggggg.
The new Hulk PF has convinced me to give Sideshow's Marvel line another shot. I might be dead before they make the Magneto I've been waiting years for.

For the most part yeah I do, but it is just a personally preference thing. As awesome as the original PF is and i have seen it, i like the more straight on look of the new one, and I like the detailed sculpts that SSC is pulling off as of late, and they tend to balance more with my artistic sensibilities. I am more Keown than Kirby. Now I am not hammering on the original PFs, but I do think that SSC has stepped up ther sculpting game in a lot of ways. If they could up their painting and QC games a little more I think they will see a lot of the jaded collectors coming back to them.

I don't think they have.. Those are all classics... Their Spidey, Logan, Iron Man (I know some like it)... Not so much and they are what I pictured right off the bat when I think of blah SS early pieces at least compared to DC.

I have never cared for the original Cap face sculpt. If I had to pick between the two (money and worth not being an issue) I think I like the new one just a smidge more because of the action pose... Having said that I am not a huge Cap fan... The other pose would be better if he was not looking up. That hurts display options..

Original Doom is one of SSC all time best.

Thor is nice but I have never seen it in person... I don't now how the fabric looks... Having said that... I hate the new Thor PF.
