Don't think I've ever seen Superman "throw"a planet in the comics.
Sounds like an over the top silver age scene before Supermans powers were dialed back.
Trying to show the physics of that would be difficult to show on screen but pulling ships through the ice is fine.

You're too young then!

When I was a kid, I had this Superman comic where he is prisoner of time and can't go back, only forward in time. Comes a time when he stumbles upon Earth that's been dead for millennia, so with his heat vision, he cuts the planet in two, rekindles the core with is heat vision, makes a new atmosphere with his super breath, and brings humanoids and prehistoric animals back on the planet to give it a second chance.

... As a consequence, he is also given a second chance to go back to his time period. See, Superman can tow a boat, no big deal for him!:lol

Yea superman is meant to be the strongest superhero(debatable) so him doing impossible feats like that is no big surprise to me. he is meant to be an over the top strong dude. I saw a comic where he used the green lantern's ring to make chains around him so he could pull a planet away from the sun or something. the man is not to be ****ed with.

Dont think I'd enjoy watching that, that's too much for my "Willing suspension of disbelief" gene.
Thats sounds way out of the realm of leaping tall buildings, going faster than bullets and being as powerful as a locomotive.
(That description predates him moving planets in your childhood btw)
I leave planet creating to God.

What!? That sounds really moronic (sorry fans).

Does superman somehow carry a planets worth of oxygen in his human sized lungs?

I thought the whole point to his powers were that he acquired them through the benefit of Earth's Sun? He's faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, but c'mon, splitting a planet in two?

No wonder I was never a comic book fan.

You make the character that powerful, then where's the drama? Where's the danger or risk?

Yeah that's a bit on the absurd side alright. But I doubt we'll ever see a movie Superman able to do things like that. I'm sure even spinning the earth backwards by flying around it really fast will be beyond Cavill or any future Supermen.

Just to keep in mind: There is a Graham Norton Show Batman Special on the BBC next Friday.

Well, I there was drama! The guys were that good... Now, let's put this into perspective. Superman, at the time, was written for kids. Anything was possible! Today, they can't do it because the audience is more sophisticated, more educated, and they don't write for kids anymore.

Still, for me, this was Superman, and I don't think I've truly appreciated any reboot since then because, somehow, they've cut the guys balls.

Yeah, it predates it by about ten years. At the beginning, Superman wasn't yet a finished project. Everything came little by little until, in the mid 50s, he was practically a god.

But that's what so great about the character. This comparison with a God like concept.

What's his name? Kal El. el is the usual ending for angelic beings
He was sent in a ship and brought up by the Kents. Strangely reminiscent of the Noah story
In the story I told, he re created the Earth like, you know, the other guy, only it didn't take him seven days. That's for amateurs
In the 80s, he died and disappeared from his tomb and was reborn... Dunno, think I've heard that one before somewhere.

And there are plenty of other references if you look close. In my book, that's funnier than this slightly se period being they've portrayed recently.

I know that in the new movie, Batman is gonna win, 'cuz, you know, Bats is the big **** now when he used to always be second before, but, truth is, the flying mouse wouldn't normally stand a chance against a godlike being

Guess again...

I know it's temporary and all, but *********, how far is the Bat-******y going to go? Sometimes I wish a Prep-Master like Doctor Doom or the Maker would just cross-over and turn Batman into a damn bat and then smash him under his boot. Hell, in Endgame he took on the whole damn LEague in a straight up battle. Ridiculous...

^:lol

You know, the biggest suspension of disbelief when I come to thin of it is Batman is going to win!:lol

He'd hit Doom with a Batarang and Doom would be like "Ouch, that hurts". Then Batman will do a million Bat-Kicks and wait for it... BATKICK Doom right the Batdamned face! Doom would then be all "man, I sure wish I could do something with all my tech, brains, fighting abilities and sorcery, but this man is just too much". Another win for the GODDAMNED BATMAN!

Nah. Kryptonite :thwak

Plus shrinked Red Suns in each of his suits knuckles... Yep, that's a thing in his Endgame armour. It's how he took down Supes. He put 5 Red Suns in each of his hand and punched him real hard. He also took down Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Flash. Plus, I think Green Lantern and Cyborg as well. Ah, classic PIS, nothing better!

It's not exactly a surprise, what does anyone use to ''beat'' Superman. Kryptonite, lead etc. So of course Batman can do that. And presumably in this film the only way Batman will get to that point of being able to use those things to his advantage is by him also taking advantage of the fact that Superman does not want to kill him. Because obviously Superman could just slap his head off his body, armour or no armour.

That said it does beg the question - if Batman knows Superman doesn't want to kill him....what's he so worried about?

Or blow his head off with his heat vision, or freeze the air in his lungs, or lobotomize him. Take your pick. But Supes does not want to kill him.
