I agree with moose. rushmore wants all of his superhero movies to be as light and cheery as Donner Superman and The VVitch.
What didn't you like about it? It was the giant octopus thing wasn't it?
Most of the criticism that we hear of MOS we don't hear of at other movies I don't recall hear half the cap I hear about MOS at any marvel movies and we all know they deserve it too. Age of ultron that had so issues for me and Thors movie need work.I agree with moose. rushmore wants all of his superhero movies to be as light and cheery as Donner Superman and The VVitch.
No we can handle it but tell me honestly how could you not be bored in that snooze fest called super man returns it was was such a waste of a good character. In retrospect I am glad they realized they needed to reboot that movie because it lead to MOS and the birth of the DC cinematic universe.
I have been know to like and dislike movies that traditional fans hate and like. For instance i domlike x men 3 last stand people hate it I think for the fact that they killed 3 main characters in the movie. I did like days of future past but I did not agree with the retro con it was unnecessary as those deaths had an emotional impact. But the main thing for me is was I enterained or not.

. I don't even remember that, are you joking?
Superman returns was like that for me I was extremely disappointed because I felt robbed of what it could have been. Been reading the comics and watching the cartoons for sometime and finally I was hoping to see an adaptation of that on the big screen only to be shocked by what I saw.Superman Returns was fine, inoffensive and fairly forgettable. It didn't make a big impact on me and I not pan on watching it gain, mostly cause I hated Spacey in tht movie. It was fluff. MOS "looked" really good, so good I almost made a blind buy of it. Perhaps part of the reason I hate it so is because I feel it had potential tht it came nowhere near living up to. Snyder has impressive visual flair, but he falls far short as a Director in other areas. He should just be a cinematographer.
X3 I hated, bad all the way around, in my eyes.
DOFP I liked as much as X2, maybe more. I saw the whole end retconning thing as an interesting opportunity.
I'm serious. When Sups is fighting against the world engine, the machine had a bunch of tentacles like an octopus. It was unnecessary and it looked really fake.
That's the only thing that really bothered me about the film...and the tornado, until I saw a guy risk his life for his dog in real life....but I still think it's stupid.

I like to be neutral in my assessment of a movie cause we as fans of this genre can be bias so I break it down to its basic elements, was I entertained? And for that to happen the story has to flow the acting need to be there and set and effects need to work together to bring the story to life.

This is NOT a dark Superman.
You guys have been lured by the naysayers, assumptions based on MOS, and a cleverly deceptive marketing campaign.

I was just writing the exact same wordsMOS and the situations are "dark" but the character isn't really dark.
Star wars don't get me started on that hyped up reboot. No that for me was a huge disappointment considering they basically took the best parts of the previous movies and repackaged them I was disappointed I know people hate the prequels, but this sad to think they best the can do is repackage the story again.I think the only movie series/character that I can't go into neutral, is Star Wars. I think I'm more forgiving than some on this site are, but I am still going to call a turd a turd, even if it's from a series of movies I have great affection for.
If I watched MOS again I might be able to give a more detailed explanation of why I dislike the movie do much, but I'm just not a masochist.
I had no issue with the tentacle monster, Superman fights generic robot/monsters every other day of the week.
I was just writing the exact same words
