It's a super interesting story. It goes to the depth of story telling and what makes a good movie. How important an IP is. If critics opinions matter for box office. If the movie is even good, what works what doesn't. Where this universe could go.

The news potential is vast. I've had lots of really deep conversations about all aspects of cinema, story/telling, business just from the one flick

Yeah for sure, very interesting. I try to avoid conversations about it because deep down I know I'm biased towards bats and I have no idea how that clouds my judgment. I am a movie buff though and I think this is one for the ages. The years building up to this were long and so much conversations were going on, its clear we are headed straight into this new age of cinema directly tied to the internet. Hell, half the fun of BVS was getting there.

BvS was great.

There's a parallel universe where the press don't hate Snyder (and aren't brainwashed by Disney) so the majority of people liked the movie - and aren't afraid to say they did.

Because, yes - most people's hate for this movie began with the bad reviews. This is a society of bandwagoning and communal hate.

Just look at this thread. The movie's been out two weeks now and the same people who hated it two weeks ago feel the need to continue sharing said hate for it here still. Why do they continue? Because they feel empowered bashing something the general consensus deems cool to bash.

BvS is a movie that shows how vitriolic and ugly online society has gotten.

I'd expect to see articles keep coming until WB actually does an overall 'great' movie in the DC Cinematic Universe that helps solidify that they're "on the right track", can get the critics AND majority of the fans on their side, and also can calm down their shareholders. Though there have been two (MoS and BvS), both of them have been quite polarizing and there hasn't been that uniform consensus that they were 'fantastic' movies. Even Marvel's "weaker" attempts have gotten a more positive reception than DC's.

I'm not making this a Marvel vs. DC but unfortunately it draws the comparison. I want the DCU to succeed and do well, but they still have a while to go and they could really use that one movie in theaters that everyone says, "You HAVE to see so-and-so". I'm hoping that movie is 'Suicide Squad'. But one of DC's upcoming movies needs to be a home-run hitter much like "Iron Man" or "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

if this was "great" it wouldnt be so divisive, "great" movies dont have so many people in opposite sides like that. even the people that liked it admit to the big problems with the movie. (besides this forum)

i think the amount of haters in this case is too big to dismiss as just "trolls" you loving this movie is not different than someone loving a movie like iron man 2.... THERE ARE people that love iron man 2, are they wrong? no, you can like whatever you want
is iron man 2 a "great" movie? well...

Yes the communal hate triggered the haters and off we go...
I think it's my kinda movie- I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea but what movie is? I just am unhappy how the pile-on in the media got to the point of being joyous to see what critic could lambast it harder than the last one and how stupid RT was quoted everytime by them like they were the definitive source of how a film passes the pass or fail test. It was ugly.
This forum iself I have no problem with people divided on how good it was- every film here gets that- even TFA:rotfl

So here it doesn't bother me but the overall media treatment has been who could shame and destroy WB and Snyder in the most expedicious way

It's not like this is a discussion forum or anything... :rolleyes2

Anyone catch the Alfred 'phantasm' line (mask of the phantasm reference)

That was what I thought when I heard it anyways!

Well I don't think the movie is going to reach the magical $1B. It will be lucky to hit $900M but I think it will claw its way there. Some folks are going to hate it and feel justified to bash. The movie is flawed, dour and overlong, Luthor is mischaracterized and would have been better and more timely as a Trump type with a bad toupee as opposed to a Zuckerberg type (Eisenberg is a solid actor and would have been a great Jimmy Olsen) and Doomsday is poorly designed (just as with Abomination and Ultron, some directors don't get what makes some of these comic villain designs so cool). However the positives outweighed the negatives and I was able to enjoy the movie. I actually think Nolan as producer may be doing the franchise more harm than good because brings a sense of gravity to his projects. Snyder is a superb visual director, but he has difficulty with creating a cohesive narrative. And I don't know exactly what his wife brings to the table. She might be very good or it might simply be that it's a package deal. If they keep him as director they need to find a solid writer and a producer who can focus on entertainment value versus grim existential storytelling. At the end of the day these are comic book movies, not War and Peace.

Would just like to point out to my haters....

Remember when I said I would say my peace and move on whether I liked or hated this movie. I wouldn't argue or debate for weeks.....

see how right I am.

you did stick to that...kudos

but it needs defenders of it now and then:lol

Yeah. We talk about action figures and statues, there's a movie section so why not talk about movies? :dunno

I find little tolerance on the boards for discussions. I've read some good discussions but I find the majority of post taking either your with me or against me stance....and if your against me your a troll or conspirator. It isn't inclusive to the movie section either.....:rotfl

I liked the movie. I want to hate it with the rest of the haters but I can't. I actually liked it. There were moments I didn't like but overall it was a good movie. I want to go see it again.
