For me it really needed to be a Superman and a Batman who we've seen and loved in separate films before joining them up in order to have the requisite impact. I knew going in that I wasn't getting that so I don't know if I can describe it as the biggest disappointment of my adult life - I was expecting to be disappointed and it didn't disappoint, I was disappointed.
The ultimate cut really is no better than the theatrical. One of the extra bits is a shot of Affleck in the shower for Christ's sake

Probably in the Asylum for the cynically insane.
Loved the extended cut- like Watchmen ut's the one I will always watch
Most of the Watchman Extended cut elevates and enrichens the theatrical version (except the cheesy newsstand scenes) I think the opposite is true with BVS, most of it enhances the negative nonsense part of the movie. Bat Butt? seriously, bowl of fruit revelation? my god what where they thinking.... IMO.
Don't forget the extra scenes that were added to Clark's climb to visit Pa Kent's ghost. I'm definitely glad we got more of that.

Wasting so much time on Lois Lane was another mistake on both versions of the film.
Margot Kidder has one of the most cringe-worthy scenes in any Superman film.
