...What does it matter? Joss Whedon went on record saying he's glad his mother is dead cause of DRUMPFH. I'd say that's more noteworthy than "muh cape**** war".

For the record I also prefer BvS but I don't hate AoU.

The wording makes it sound very ****ed up, but the sentiment seems no worse to me than someone saying "[x] is rolling over in his grave at the sight of what this world has become." Saying it on Mother's Day for shock value? Yeah, that's pretty ****ed up.
