I'd say it's pretty accurate when it comes t CoD and the games copying that formula. Whether or not it's a good thing is up to the individual. I prefer the options you get with a more open level design.

Well, COD isn't one hallway, linear game levels don't mean that it's just a straight line. And with COD and many other games there are different ways in going through an area even though you may be going to the same endpoint (just like old games).

Besides, the game level design on old games was actually pretty bad. That's one reason I didn't like Duke Nukem Forever. The way many of the levels were designed were very generic and you could get "lost" because everything looked the same.

No, that's true. Linear just means that it's linear. Giving an occasional fork or small building to go into, doesn't make it less linear. You're still ultimately being lead down a path (narrow or wide) to the end of a level.

BC1 for example, would give you an area you had to clear, but the area was open enough that you could choose how you approached it and that led to somewhat different experiences each time you payed and tried something new. BC2 was a much more narrow layout that only occasionally gave you room to choose. CoD almost never gives the player any real choices.

I'm not saying I think old shooters are better. I'm just saying that a game like Doom that's pretty old now, gave you more to do and room to play than a current gen shooter usually does when they follow the CoD scripted formula. Good or bad, this formula has become very common in recent years and I'm not a fan. I've played through all the CoDs and I still enjoy the campaigns, but i think id like them slot more bf3 too, if they'd adopt a new approach.

But just like you on your uber PC, console players will be having way too much fun enjoying the gameplay to worry about sub HD graphics.

Besides, you're talking what......a difference of 720 to 704.

I would enjoy BF3 if it was 480p.

I would enjoy it if it was 240p!!:nana:

:hi5:
Yup, a lot of people are making a pretty big hoopla over the graphics. But for me it's the gameplay, hell the game looks stunning on the 360 already in those no HD videos, so nothing to worry about.

Exactly, for me theres no other game that rivals the team and squad based play that Battlefield has to offer. It's a complete bonus that the animation, textures, physics and the explosive effects look unbelievable.

Definitley getting this for the xbox. Then when it's cheap second hand I'll get the PS3 and PC versions just to compare...

It's a double whammy of no-brainer Battlefield 3 news today, as Eurogamer has been told by EA how the game's two discs will be distributed for Xbox 360, detailing what will be on each one.

"Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360 ships on two discs with endless hours of spectacular high-definition gameplay," EA told the site. "Disc one features the stunning multiplayer, co-op levels and HD installation content. Disc two features the superb single-player campaign."

That's pretty much what we had figured anyway, but it's nice to have it confirmed. DICE General Manager Karl Troedsson also confirmed paid post-launch DLC for Battlefield 3 via Twitter, which will be in addition to the Limited Edition's 'Back to Karkand' map pack.

" Yes, there will be PDLC post launch. We've announced the Back To Karkand pack but there will be more to come," Troedsson tweeted. Again, pretty obvious stuff, but nice to know all the same.

Battlefield 3 is out on October 25th in North America and October 28th in Europe.

320x200 YT resolution can make things look crappy.

BC2 is one of the best looking FPS on the consoles.

You can probably find it on Youtube somewhere, I had found another posting of it yesterday after the first had been removed.

It doesn't look like crap, but you can't really tell anyways because it's 360p and pretty compressed.

Good to see the details. I'm liking whats there. Really nice to see the change to Rush. It always drove nuts when the attackers would use C4 tricks. I do wish they'd just go all out and do all the standard modes in shooters today...just for options sake. FFA, CTF maybe even the now standard horde mode. That's just me being greedy. IM happy to see standard TDM offered and an "infantry only" option.

I just watched this one. I can't believe the b1tching that's going n with this new trailer. People seem to actually be surprised that it doesnt look as good as the PC version. Are people really this naive? I don't get it.

Anyways, it looks good to me. As good as I hoped for. I think BC2 is a pretty good looking 360 game and this seems to be a considerable graphical upgrade from that. What else can anyone ask for? Apparently, people are asking for their 360 to suddenly perform like a high end PC. Sometimes, people can be downright dumb.
