So the free maps that come with the "limited edition" will they be live the day of release or later on? I just found out the other day that they are bringing my favorite maps from BF2 to BF3!! This went from buying it later on to buying it the day of.

With the limited edition you get the Karkand code, but the karkand DLC wont' be available for a bit, if you get the regular version you don't get the code and have tk pay when Karkand is released.

With and without 360 texture pack.

I'm not buying that comparison shot. The first screen is just too crappy looking to be legit. I've seen side by sides on YouTube and the difference wasn't nearly as noticeable as this.

Hmm..so the ladder won't have any rungs without the HD pack? Not sure about that. I won't trust any images online until I see them on the game myself. I'll have the stuff installed, so it won't affect me, but i still don't trust pics on the net. Textures are one thing..steps on a ladder are another. That's missing geometry.

There are a few comparisons on YouTube, for those doubting the pictures. I don't know why anyone is really that concerned though - is there a decent reason why someone wouldn't do the HD install?

That footage is what I've seen before. I don't see missing geometry in those. I even paused it a bunch of times. I tend to think beyond myself sometimes. I won't have an issue, but not everyone has a hard drive. These vids look ok, but the stills are iffy to me. I take it back..these vids don't look ok. They look awful. I can't believe how bad this looks without the hd install. It looks atrocious. I feel bad for anyone who can't install this. The difference is night and day.

I think they have done an amazing job with the console versions.
Although the non texture still looks very good, u can see the extra details. Would liked to have seen it running with a bit more happening on screen, see how the framerate handles.
Looks very impressive to me :)

Frame rate should be fine if you install everything so it streams off the HDD. The non hd texture version is butt ugly though. Some shots look ok, but man a lot of shots look like hell.

I think the SD and HD differences are HUGE. But I think when you are in the heat of battle and running through the game you'd hardly notice.

Im still fairly impressed even without the hd textures. Looks quite stunning with them.

I don't understand the ins-and-outs of XBOX 360s, I don't own one, but wouldn't just an 4GB USB stick be more than enough? If so, most have those laying down and if not they're only a couple of dollars to buy, I don't think anyone's going to need to beg parents or anything then.

Unless I'm missing something, the SD version is just something that's available to play in the worst case temporary situation, like if your HD breaks or you lose it, forget it, etc, not something anyone's going to view permanently or even for an extended amount of time.

Texture pack install may be around a gig and then there is the game which will be allot more, maybe 7 to 10 gig or something similar.

While I did see a difference between them, Im not that blow away by either. As Shropt said, when Im playing the last thing Im going to do is look at some bump mapping and shadows. I'll still install whatever I need to install but I dont think its that big of a deal. Im just easily pleased I guess. Ive been over graphics long ago, I want good game play and for single player a cool story, thats all I ask.
