I jus bought a 250 gig hdd for $70 at Gamestop. It's a good option for people not needing a new console.

I don't think the age of the beta would change it--they would have had the high resolution textures ready anyways since they would have to be part of the pipeline. But--compared to the PC beta, which was 3.4GB compared to the Xbox beta which was like 1.2GB

So if both of the PC maps had the better textures that would make sense over the Xbox beta

Maybe but then i was always under the assumption when a game is developed, the final stages ie 4 to 6 weeks was ironing bugs and adding textures, improving framerates......
would kinda make sense to me that the texture pack was developed in that time.
Also the timing of the announcement wouldn't really make sense.
Battlefield beta goes live :panic:
beta gets a bit of bad press :(
Beta finishes and dice announce they have listened to the comments... and have added a texture pack for better " hd graphics" :yess:
Only for it to be already included in the beta :thud:

Either way, this game is going to rock and will look great!

They would have already made HD textures when they originally made the assets, so it wouldn't have been any big deal to put them into the demo. They probably targeted the PC and then scaled down from there.

The changes they'd be making at this point would be in gameplay and bug fixes, which from what I've heard, they've done a lot to improve.

I still think they may not have been included. If I remember rightly, the beta was 1.6 gig download. With the texture pack having to be installed from a separate disc on the 360 I reckon the beta would have had to be quite a bit bigger??

Would be a nice touch from Dice to have not had this included and very bold and brave to atleast try something new pushing the consoles to the max and making a bit of a statement in the process.
Unlike some other games :wink1:

I'm thinking the same.

I thought it looked worse than BC2 but I know that i'm in the miniority with that statement.

That being said, I do believe that the PC version of BF3 on Ultra looks outstanding.

But for the console, I prefer the look of BC2 over BF3.

Again, the ultra settings on PC weren't ultra as per Dice. I don't know what it was, but they confirmed that putting it on ultra didn't change a thing from the default setting.

I didn't hear that.

Interesting.

While I hem and haw about the visual differences between BC2 and BF3, not once have I ever said the game didn't look spectacular on the PC.

Now, if those weren't Ultra settings, then what is it, because every PC footage from BF3 looks freaking amazing.

I can't wait for Next Gen consoles to give us that level of graphics, meaning from the PC footage of BF3.

It's time for Xbox-PS3 to retire as far as i'm concerned.

So if that's the PC default settings in those videos, will the xbox with the texture pack look the same then :horror

If so I would never complain about the differences from BC2 and BF3 ever again :lol

Don't know if this has been posted or not, but there is a Steelbook for this game out of Canada.

I did. It was good but not great everywhere. I'm talking about the Beta, not the footage. The footage is obviously cranked up to it's max.

Even if the Ultra setting didn't do anything the PC version had higher resolution textures

Well of course it did, it's PC :dunno

I cant remember where I read it, but I had read something to the effect of the xbox was basically running BF3 at what the pc would be running it on its lowest setting.

Nice to see a bit more of the single player. Still o idea what it's about, but that's ok. Looks pretty awesome so far.
