I am looking at maybe trying some of these little things. They are so small and will provide directional lighting, I would be using many of them for each Besta cube. What are your thoughts on these, too low powered ? I am also a bit confused about a driver I would need as I have absolutely no experience with LED lighting. Would the local ikea power supplies for their own LED's be what I need to power these? - help and advice would be great :)

too low powered ?

They're 1W LEDs, so they're not low power. They'll be crazy bright in fact. They seem to come with a driver (transformer) that accepts 220V, your mains power - I hope it comes with an enclosure for it. That transformer along with the LED sound like they may consume 5w total - it's not very clear because most of the specs are in Chinese.

I think those will end up being too much of a spotlight in that enclosed space. Other options would distribute the light better.

aah ok, 1W meant nothing to me - seemed quite low lol - you can see my lack of electronics skill shining through here.

I think I might give these a try then tbh and see how they work out. 6 euro each is super cheap and being so small they will hardly get seen except a beam of light :)

I really want to avoid the usual pucks and strip lights. I like the little spot lights that come in pre-built cases but so far not seen any for sale anywhere.

I had no idea how they were powered so figured you guys would understand all of this.

I switched over from Vassbo doors to Tombos and the lighting dimmed a bit because there are no borders on the Tombos to bounce the light off from the top right LED strips. Is there a way to brighten up the shelves other than putting another LED strip in the back opposite the front middle one, or putting in a mirror insert on the back of the shelf? The mirror insert I want to avoid because I don't like to see "double" of my display, plus it makes photographing from directly in front complicated due to the reflection. Was wondering if there was a cheap option to fix this, but if not it's cool because the lighting is still alright, just not as strong and casts a bit stronger shadow.

Angle the strips so they're pointing into the cabinet.

This is a very easy thing to do also. You can buy triangular strips of balsa and mount those to the top with the light strips attached and you'll get more of an angle and be pointing forward and down on your items instead of just straight down.

You could also frost the mirrors to blur the direct reflection out but still bounce the light well. You can use hairspray for a temporary frosting or a matte spray coat.

You can also get fancy and stencil each character's logo to a mask for a background on the mirror. Spray and peel.

That's a great idea! I was looking at my displays and thought that I didn't have enough light so I think I will try this

You can also use Sticky Tack. I just use two rolled up balls of it on either end of my LED light strips and I can angle them however I need since the stuff is like putty. It really gives you a ton of lighting flexibility and it holds great without leaving and marks or residue on your Besta.

I screwed in some cove shaped moldings and used LED tape from superbrightleds.com. The molding is on the front and the LEDs are at a 45 degree angle on the molding so brights the whole shelf. I then put glass mirrors on the bottom and back and it really pops.

I have gone with these now to see how they work out. Ordered a few of them on the 15cm pole with the warm white option. The idea being I will attach them to the top of each besta cube. I'll post some pictures though when it's all done.

Today i went to Ikea to buy some INREDA Mirrored glass shelf insert but there are out of stock.

I asked the employed and they told me that the besta line get´s a big change in april (new colors , new doors and so on ....)

They told me that the new Glassvik Doors are also available only until april.

They said I should prefer to wait until april before I buy a new wall unit because the Colors are different to the old ones..
