I wondered that too. The hasbro Bib has the same mark so I guess it is part of character? But what I wanted to know is: is it a tatoo or a wound or a birthmark?

I think its like a "chip" in his tentacle -- a scar basically.

I think he burnt it on the stove while he was cooking. Probably at Wor-Gar's.
