I think this applies XD

To be fair, Solid beat BB when BB was old as hell while Solid was in his prime. I felt BB was a lot more relatable as you see how his psyche and mentality gradually change on a believable level. And I hate Otacon and Raiden (Solid's buddies) so I vote BB.

I chose Big Boss. The most immersed ive felt in a Metal Gear game was during MGS3. I think hes got the best sneaking suits & I prefer the slightly longer hair and thicker beard look. The way the story depicted Big Boss as a character is a one off, the main instrument in the entire Metal Gear franchise. Hes actually important. Ocelot a close second. Solid is depicted as he could be anybody. An unwitting tool of whoever is giving him orders on the codec. We know with Big Boss he goes on to become this Tyrant like character. With Solid we know he ends up as Old Snake.

I think Solid only has one great game. MGS1 is awesome. But MGS2 is Raiden. MGS4....

Ive played the msx games but i wont count thoes. They are pretty bad to play at this age and even then the story since then has been retconned to the point they barely seem like they ever happened.

Solid Snake all the way. Big Boss is just a character copy of SS and at this point I find his story redundant and uninteresting. MGS1 is the greatest of the series with the greatest protagonist. I thought BB in MGS3 was good but I didn't find the same depth of character with him that I found in SS.

In MGS2 SS badassery went to a all time high. He was what he described Gray Fox as "calm cool and precise." I think as a character it was the biggest character development of the protagonists since his whole life shifted to a new goal with Philanthropy.

MPO & PW did not further BB character in the least, and both felt like the same game.

When it comes down to it, age doesn't matter in MGS and Big Boss was beaten twice by a rookie Solid Snake and Snake has beaten villains who are WAY more dangerous than Big Boss has ever taken on.

I think this applies XD

:lol

There is so much truth in this. It really makes Big Boss look like a stinky Mommy's boy hippy with no backbone.

Big Boss was beaten like a redheaded step child all through MGS3.

Big Boss has a creepy Oedipus complex with the Boss.

Strange thread since there's no competition...

After all it's "Metal Gear SOLID".
Not "Metal Gear Guy Who Killed The Boss And Was Interesting Only In Metal Gear Solid Game As The Naked Smake".

Without a doubt, my favorite post ever. :duff

Really hammers the point home.

The vote count makes my nanomachines tingle :monkey3

Don't make me choose D:

Solidus! You little devil you! XD

That pic is biased as ****, still funny though.

Well they're both equal on the badassery department and after thinking it a little both have a heavy *** back story.

I have to go with Solid, just for nostalgia and I think his backstory so far is better, just by a tad.
