Big Boss vs. Solid Snake

The main thing people need to remember about SS, is that he beat Big Boss. :lecture
Wait until the Remake where Big Boss secretly lets Solid get the upper hand because he feels for the closest thing he will ever have to a son and how he is as passionate as he himself used to be when he was that age...

I would sell my eventual copy of MGS 5 if that ever happened. Good lord.

I'm pretty surprised how many votes Snake got, I really expected to Snake to lose this by a land slide since a lot of people are huge MGS3 fans.

Here I thought there was only a few of us carrying the torch for Snake :lol

Im not at all. He is widely known as the main protagonist of the series. And most people started the franchise with MGS2

When i first played MGS3 i really liked BigBoss since he was more human. I loved that **** eating grin when he spots the bee hive over the soldiers head. But he was always just a Solid Snake imposter to me!

Oh and I voted Solid Snake. Big Boss is great, but Snake's awesome personality and story makes him the perfect character for me. Even when playing MGS3, at times I was pretending it was Snake. :lol

I honestly can't pick, since I like both about equally. Though I should note--folks are discussing all the ways that Solid is better, Naked Snake had the coolest game environment of all of them IMO in MGS3, and I like the fact that they used the Cold War time period as a back drop. That really appeals to me vis-a-vis the more futuristic tone of the other games.

In my mind, the entire franchise is more successful at creating interesting characters, mood, and great gameplay than it is at crafting a really good story. And considering that, MGS3 is at least an equal to any of the other MGS games in my opinion, though I love all of the games in the primary series (putting aside Raiden and his cartwheels and whatnot in MGS 2 *barf*).

The 1st time that happened to me I was like whaaaaT? And stayed like this for a few seconds ._. then I started laughing my *** off, then I felt bad for having touched it to much....

I vote for bigboss because he is more badass in my opinion, and would've won in a fight against solid if he is still in his prime years :lol

Fairly even for me. But if i were forced to choose, i would say Big Boss edges it ever so slightly for me.

His character arc is more interesting for me, as he starts as a naive pawn, becomes a legendary soldier, then his fall from grace.

Solid Snake was mostly a pawn throughout the series, and is the last of the "Snakes" to get clued in about whats actually going on. While he did break out on his own to form Philanthropy with Otacon his character never really changes all that much.

I voted for Big Boss. MGS3 is the best mgs game for me so far, though mgs1 is not far behind. I just like the overall feel and look of Snake/BB in this game.

Though those who hate BB, it is really Kojima's fault :D He watered down the character by overusing him. Not that I actually mind about that, but many do.

You got that right. They didn't keep his story as epic as it was in MGS3 and at this point most of us just want to move on already.

I was wondering when this topic would hit the poll :lol

Solid Snake

The only game Big Boss was good in was MGS3. Which is a brilliant game no doubt, but Big Boss is basically Solid Snake in MGS3. Granted he had that weirdness with The Boss that differentiated him from Snake & personally it ruined Big Boss a bit for me by making it ALL he cared about in MGS3.

In every other aspect he was the same as Snake, He spoke the same, while still saying the same things. He looked pretty much the same as him for 3/4 of the game, taking into account the brief period he didn't wear the bandana and when he lost his eye.

If your saying you like Big Boss because of MGS3 then you should really be choosing Snake because Big Boss is a carbon copy of Solid from the previous instalments just dealing with different circumstances in a different era.

At least Snake never cried for a whole 2 games about 1 person. Which 1 of them games went on to pretty much ruin the timeline up to that point

ALSO: This isn't a poll about which game you prefer. I've read a lot of comments that basically say 'i like Big Boss more because i prefer MGS3'

I too really enjoyed the change of environment and time era, It was better than the story for MGS2 really but that wasn't determined by the character Big Boss more so the games theme.

It's undeniable that Big Boss is a complete copy of Solid Snake. I think Kojima wanted the whole reoccurring history thing with Big Boss and Solid Snake mirroring each other.

I think Big Boss should of had a different VA and made to have a completely different personality to make him a separate person.

But you're absolutely right, if you remove the idea of that it's Big Boss he basically becomes Solid Snake.

Kojima always takes a easier route when he can, just look at MGS4 and that cluster **** ending.

I'm surprised how civil this thread is given the topic. :lol

The topic reminds me of Dragonball Z threads "Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs. Mystic/Ultimate Gohan" that go on and on with no outcome. :pow
