Quality of product aside, what were you guys expecting? It's just some bird who dresses like a librarian. It was hardly going to be the centre piece of your collections?

The UPS van just came, stopped in my street and then the guy just drove back out! Now I'll have to wait again for this! :(

Back after a down time. Man it's been a while. Anyway, mine got shipped on friday and was sheduled for tomorrow, but now it's still stuck on "pick-up scan" so we'll see. I'm not really very worried I'll be very disappointed as my excitement for this has died down quite a bit as of late. We'll see.

Your response is counter intuitive...regardless of subject matter, it's a principle that applies even if it were a Batman or an Ironman figure, the quality of a figure is paramount! If quality is such that the costume is lacking, the quality of the face sculpt is lacking and the price of the figure is high...what else exactly are we supposed to talk about...?

I could have done a review about how nice the colour of the box was, or how squiggly Karen's hand writing is, or even how nicely the address label was printed. But that would be thin to say the least.

I've got to say that I'm glad I didn't have the chance to order this. I thought it was just the head-sculpt that was the problem and that the sculpted hair would make this an acceptable figure, but from the looks of things, it has even more shortcomings. It's a shame that this is the Amy Pond figure we'll have. At least BCS can move on to greater things now.

Very fair and balanced review DGTWoodward, and great pics. Thanks for sharing.

I really am glad I followed my gut on this one, as I was never overly happy with the way it looked right from the start. And nothing along the way really changed my mind any. But I still wish it had turned out better for all you folks that bit the bullet and ordered it. Though, hopefully, the sculpted hair head will at least counter the 'high forehead' look a bit, and eliminate the various problems that the rooted hair approach brings with it, so I think that version will at least look a little better overall.

Hopefully with the nightmare production of this piece soon behind them, BC can move on to bigger and better things. Besides, I'm sure they have learnt a good many lessons from this, so hopefully they will be better equipped to avoid certain mistakes in the future.

I just hope people will keep in mind that all companies have their misses and messes along the way, and that hopefully future releases will be of a much higher general standard as a result of all they have gone through on this piece. I can say that I'm certainly no less excited over the prospect of the Tennant, Tom Baker and Hartnell pieces, despite how poorly (in my opinion) this piece turned out. Of course, admittedly, that is easy for me to say as someone who didn't actually buy this piece, and so didn't feel the full financial sting of this particular 'miss'.

Not much else to say, really.

found this image on FB - the angle isn't the best so can't judge too much...

Hey, look kids, it's Chav Barbie! And she's all ready for a night out on the town... :p

Sorry, but that is honestly the first thought that went through my head when I saw that, shall we say unfortunate looking, pic. :lol

Yup. As expected! I have really terrible luck with parcels, so much so that I've had to physically chase redeliveries before they drove off. Lazy drivers.

Hopefully not too lazy that you don't get it before mine finds its way back to China.
Mind you, after Darrens review, I'm not in so much of a hurry to get it. Though, I still have high hopes for the new head.

Erck :-/ guess mine will be waiting at work tomorrow. Think even my "collector friendly" workmates are going to rip the peez out of me for this one.
The jacket will get junked.
Tights need replacing.
Can't get that second headsculpt quick enough.

Hooo-eeee!

Fantastic review Darren - thanks.

First, and just to get it out of the way - that thing is downright creepy!

Second - is this really the same sculpt as the one with the moulded hair? Because if that's the case, then we shouldn't be blaming Karen and her agent for the failure of this figure, the fault is more in the paint job.

Finally, Karen did have one iconic outfit (the policewoman/ kissogram outfit!) but even in her other clothes there were better choices - like the one from The Pandorica Opens/ The Big Bang.
