Well, depending on whether they distribute these wider or make it a release only for their site, it'll probably be more like $400-$500 for the pair.

That's a lot considering the quality of paint and tailoring these Doctor Who releases seem to have compared to a Hot Toys figure. Yes, I see the debate raging back and forth and people from the company explaining the prices. That's all good and fine. They can charge whatever they want to cover their costs. They're out to make money and these will sell out eventually. I applaud a smaller business pursuing unique licenses and satisfying the fandom/collectors with these special products.

I will await more pictures before I decide whether or not I want to pull the trigger. Trevor did a great job. I wish the painting was as great as Gregg's and tailoring half as good as Kato's and I'd be one happy Sherlock fan :)

I know the sculpts are excellent... maybe BEYOND excellent... I'm hoping the tailoring will be better than the outfits I kitbashed in anticipation of the sculpts... if I need to re-touch paint... that's cool... I cannot WAIT!!!!

I would remind some of you that most manufacturers avoid forums like the plague because the negativity is so overwhelming.

I have always encouraged artists and companies to participate as I think it helps mute the negativity to some degree - when posters can see that there's a human on the other side doing the best they can, it helps mitigate tie hyperbolic complaints.

BCS came in and said outright that small numbers do not equal high price.

HT does this. And BCS said they don't know how HT manages to do it.

We have all acknowledged how good it is of them to have come in here and address our concerns. I think we were all pretty satisfied with their response and are hoping for the best. So come on in and have a drink, eh? :duff

Ok, so you do know about reading in context right? Because right now you're giving the strong impression that you don't.

The exclusivity = price thing was meant in general terms. BCS has told us that in this specific example, that may not apply, but in general terms it must be true otherwise we'd all be driving Aston Martins and Veyrons. The price hike in such things is deliberate to make it exclusive. Though Mark's clear explanation shows it as not being the case here...it is not such an unreasonable or unbelievable conclusion to reach...in general terms.

As to response about 'HT doing it and BCS not knowing how they did so'...was whole pages back. Welcome to the thread! There is never a Mariachi Band around when you need one, despite my packet of Doritos. I was referring actually to the moaners and hater on here who only ever seem to ***** and moan about the costume, or the paint job or the head sculpt. If they can do it, let them come out, let them take the risk and try it ...I suspect that there will be a whole lot less *****ing and moaning.

Did you really think I meant HT, when the conversation had already gone past that? Seriously?? :slap

I am mystified at the point of your post, but I now know that you do have the right user name.

This is a specious argument. None of us on here have set ourselves up as manufacturers of action figures, so we are laying no claim to be able to do it better. I do my job very well and wouldn't expect anyone who finds fault with what I do to be able to do it better. My work is very specialised. But I do welcome feedback on anything that meets the needs of my clients better and change my approach accordingly, where possible.

And, being one of the people who has expressed discontent with the paint and tailoring, I don't see this as being a hater. I think BCS are doing a great job as a starter company. There are just some areas that need development, which BCS have said they are working towards.

I really don't see this honest feedback as being a barrage of negativity. If we all sycophantically accepted everything, there would be no incentive to improve and no direction on how to improve. BCS strikes me as a company who listens to its customers and will develop as a consequence.

As I say, we are all aiming towards the same thing. I make no apologies for having an opinion. If I thought this company and their prouct were so bad that they come nowhere near my expectations, would I spend time and effort passing comment? I am not into pointless snarking. I have better things to do with my life.

At the end of the day, you have to look at the thread title to realise how amazing it is that we've got anything to argue about. I'd never give BC a free ride in terms of quality, but I'm happy to give them one for price, because it is, quite frankly, just un-****ing-believable that anyone is risking their credit status to produce 1/6 scale high end Sherlock figures.

No one else would be making these, so yeah, I am actually grateful. That said, I love reading views contrary to mine, that's how I get smarter.

But we ARE talking about BCS and their product here in this thread, right? Precisely what "context" means. I myself made the same statement that "in general terms" a higher edition size would mean a lower price, and was corrected specifically by BCS for that statement.

Your previous post made it seem like you missed that point altogether.

And my point, and every other complainer here, is that it CAN be done. We all see HT (and other companies) doing it all the time, so our frustration with poor paint apps and poor tailoring comes from that.

I'm with Mau and the Captains. We just want an awesome Sherlock, and it's great that BCS was brave enough to face heavy criticism to create a brilliant character in 1/6 form. We all just want the same thing and our criticisms and observations are aimed to ensure we get a quality piece--not just because of the price vs value debate, but because we care about the characters and want to see them done with respect.

But hey, fine. You're right. Sorry if you felt I was attacking you. :peace

Only a gentleman offers such a forthright olive branch. Well said Lu! Darron, I think you must agree that everyone has BCS's best interests at heart, albeit expressed in different tones. The perceived insult at the end of one of your last entries was unworthy and the sort of comment that brings in the moderators (Jeez, they sound like T800s when I put it like that!) and leads to thread suspensions. Anyway let peace break out now guys and let's hope BCS can give us the best available Holmes and Watson at a price that is at least acceptable for the quality of what is produced!:peace

Just announce the PPO will you guys...

EDIT: Just read Thames's post. It is really easy to get carried away online and start insulting people, although obviously I would never do this as I'm the most reasonable person in the unverse. But yeah, if I wasn't, I'm sure I would have got a couple of threads locked in my time here.

Phew, lucky I'm Mr Sweet Reason!!!

Yes, let's not get grouchy again. Let's just continue to share our opinions and respect those of others. We can play nice.

And Trevor posted the sculpts in his DeviantArt gallery and was really pleased when I told him that us fans are grateful to BCS for having chosen him to do this job. I really couldn't imagine those sculpts being any better. At all.

:goodpost::exactly: Well done Trevor! And Mau for letting him know!

The funny thing is, this thread is about a character who would get it locked in ten minutes flat just by being himself!

Just been randomly playing some of the many music videos on youtube which are set to clips of the show, and looking at the character again Sherlock is actually a perfect fit for 1/6 tailoring because the lapels on his coat are so huge and they're meant to be!

Trevor is second to none, and a great guy. I give BCS kudos for going to the best sculptor around. It shows that they're all in on this figure.

:rotfl You're absolutely right!

I didn't mean you Mau. Sorry if you thought I did. :duff
