Yea I completely know what you mean. I didn’t PO it simply b/c I wasn’t sure about BCS production quality, especially given what they’re charging for their figures. The layers that the Thomas Shelby figure has could prove to be too difficult for the production workers to make right especially if the production fabric ends up being too thick.
I really wanted to PO the 10th Doctor as a gift for my best friend, but not only is that sucker $350 but we also have to worry about if it’ll actually come out looking like a $350 figure (which I highly doubt unfortunately).
I caved in and POed a while back, but I've been having serious second thoughts for a while now. I don't even like Peaky Fookin Blindahs that much, I'm just a sucker for well-tailored suits and like Cillian Murphy. It's why I was curious to see if they'd do Alfie and Mosley, as again, I love a well tailored suit. I already had my misgivings, but I figured, "screw it, how bad can it be; it's not like we'll see any other company tackling the license" and then the signature edition got me to PO from BCS directly. The price is huge however, and I'm not confident that they'll match it.
As for the DWs, 10 looked too cartoony. They all looked kinda weird and are very expensive when you factor the pound/euro/dollar difference, plus shipping and taxes. But I caved in and got a 12 as he's the only I was missing from the NuDocs (beyond 9, but then again I just don't like his design) and he looked the best out of the bunch. I hope it turns out good as I've only got two installments left, but this fiasco isn't feeling me with confidence.
Honestly, for the prices BCS charges, the quality absolutely isn't there. But they're handling relatively niche licenses, so it's their version or nothing, which is how a lot of folks cave in.
For my money, them being relatively low-key means they gain a higher cost on the aftermarket, so even though I'll never sell, I kinda justify the cost to myself like that. The Docs are all alone in their part of the collection, but I was planning on displaying Tommy with Dam's Vito, and I fear the difference between the two will be too great. But we'll see, I guess. Maybe they'll really work on these.
