Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I agree. I'm almost tempted to get all three just to support the line. I really want this line to be able to continue.

I wish Big Chief would do some sort of "buy all 3 get 15% off" or something.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I must say it's quite refreshing to see a bit of excitement on the boards for something that isn't DC/Marvel/SW. I hope this line does extremely well and people post pics of their wants, as well as costume inaccuracies and problems with accessories.

I'd add not Hot Toys. I'm in favor of any company that can produce on a high level and give HT some competition in the market.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'm giddy thinking about the possibilities. New Dalton, Benicio, Walken, Robrt Carlyle, Javier Bardem...very exciting!

Big Chief - I know you're reading this - please feel free to chime in with BTS info and news on the line's future.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Any idea on when they are supposed to ship out? This year?
No date has been announced yet, but it would be a very happy surprise if these came out this year. We should have a much better idea on the release date when preorders go live.

I believe that Big Chief has actually offered discounted bundles in the past on some figures, but they may only be available from BCS own website. It would be nice to see a bundle discount on these especially since they would be the perfect figures to buy together.

I completely agree! I don't think that I've been this excited about any figure release since joining this site!

It would be absolutely incredible if BCS offered some signature editions with this line. I highly doubt that this wave will offer any since Connery is pretty well known for his dislike of autograph signing, but I'm hopeful that many of the other Bond actors would be willing if asked. :)

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'm disgusted at the pictures of these three figures. They are not helping my resolve
I am trying hard to be annoyed about the price point. I'm trying hard to not want to buy them...

Why am I not convinced that I won't preorder all three on Friday night?

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Goldfinger I just don't need, but I'm really on the fence about Oddjob. I'm cutting back, but...

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Musing about the next wave... I'm hoping for a Roger figure. Makes sense that it would be from TSWLM given that it's his most popular film and would bring us a Jaws figure too (which would be popular). But how would they dress Rog? My hope would be for the navy battle dress. His suits were a little bland in this movie overall.

^^ I agree, although I made that one too for my collection I'd love to see it realized as well as these others.

A solid discount would break my resolve to save money for retirement.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

My ideal Moore would be the black poloneck and magnum from Live and Let Die, or just the tux from Spy Who Loved Me.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I think i'll wait this as im betting a tux version is in the pipeline. Also to see how it turn out before dropping $250 or whatever it is.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'm only interested in three versions of Moore - the Moonraker jumpsuit with the correct shade of yellow (sideshow's was way too pale), Moonraker space suit from the publicity photos, and TSWLM Bond in skiing gear with a Union Jsck parachute that's wired and which you can display from the ceiling or on a flying stand.

I agree. The navy battle dress is one of the most iconic looks from the Moore era so I would be very happy if that were the look that BCS went for in a Moore figure!

As much as I want to see a figure of Moore soon, based on what BCS said when they announced this line I have the feeling that we'll be seeing more figures of Connery before we move onto another Bond:

BIG Chief Studios Ltd. announced today that it is to produce a range of high-end collectables based on the classic James Bond film series. Initial product offerings will be focused around the very first films in the series featuring Sean Connery as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 and will include the world-dominating villains, lethal henchmen and intelligent enchanting women of Bond.

However, this isn't such a bad thing to me since there are so many great Connery era villains and Bond girls that deserve 1/6 treatment. :)

A solid discount would break my resolve to save money for retirement.

Retirement money is overrated. Just move into a smaller place that will still has enough room to display all of your awesome Bond collectibles. :wink1:

Will people be willing to shell out the bucks for another Connery figure in wave 2 if they just bought the Goldfinger version? Even if these we're moderately priced I couldn't really see myself collecting more than one sculpt of any partcular Bond actor; especially right away in the next batch. But I am thrilled that Goldfinger is the first because that is easily my favourite Connery Bond movie! If they are sticking with this era for now, a Pleasance Blofeld would have to be coming next I think. But what else? Are they going to stay to one film for each wave or mix and match??

Seems a bit of a crazy approach, to be honest, but Big Chief does tend to do things their own way, for better or worse. If that is what they plan on doing, and if it works or not, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Personally though, I think they'd be smarter to do a different Bond next. Either Moore or Brosnan, then move on to Craig and Dalton, then finish the actor lineup with a Lazenby wave, as I'd imagine he'd sell a lot more after all the others have all been done than before, as he'd then have the completing factor in his favour to help his sales at that point. Then they could circle around and do another Connery wave, and so on, working your way through again, because by that time you'd have plenty of new customers who missed out on the first releases, which themselves would have had plenty of time to sell out by then. And if the second run through of all the different Bonds includes a tuxedo look, then you might convince a lot who were happy with the first releases to buy again to get the iconic Bond formal look as well. Hell, that's what I'd do, anyway.

But Big Chief will do what they will do. All I know is that I'll have that first Connery Bond figure regardless. :)
