Does this mean ES will be higher than expected????

No... everyone pretty much expected retailers to carry this, since it wasn't promoted as a Sideshow Exclusive.

This thread doesn't seem to be filled with quite the same commeradery as yesterday's pre-order thread. If yesterday's thread was the family brothers-in-arms thread, this seems more like the rival siblings pick-on-each-other thread.

Probably because everyone will keep the Obi figure. At 800.00 and an ES that gets larger with every passing minute of ordering, perhaps not that many people are nuts about their pending purchase.

i m actually already wavering on my order. 800.00 is by far the most i will have ever spent on a statue

Your so right Bulls "Where's Gandalf PF"

Come on Sideshow, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, for one thing the Gandalf PF isn't available for order yet. And maybe the New Line agreement is different than the Lucasfilm one. Maybe they prohibit Sideshow from publishing images of unapproved sculpts. Maybe Sideshow isn't even allowed to take orders until it is approved. Who knows?

Kind of an apples and oranges issue, don't you think?

I'm nearly sure prototype pictures of the 12" LoTR line was shown weeks before they went up for order.

Prototype doesn't mean unapproved. It simply means non-production-run. I am fairly certain that all of those figures were approved before they went up for order.

"The body of the biker scout is cast in high-density foam, and incorporates several points of articulation so that you may adjust the pose and attitude of the trooper's head and arm. The trooper is costumed in a real fabric body glove, then finished with polystone and metal armor elements."

To clarify just a bit (this info comes directly from the creative team)... the 'foam' is a high density, lightweight polyurethane compound that is very rigid and durable; the weight allows for perfect balance atop the bike, and the rigidity allows it to keep the nice clean lines of the pose. The 'articulation' comes at a few points: ball jointed neck, left elbow to help create the perfect contact with the bike handlebar, right elbow to allow for posing the gun arm however you'd like (and no breakage if you hit it accidentally), and knees to allow for perfect foot contact with the pedals. It's not articulated like you think of articulation in a 12-inch figure, but rather at very specific points of motion. On the bike, the pedals and handlebars will be metal for sure, and possibly other parts as well (he didn't specify).

The entire thing has been engineered pretty darn near perfectly, IMHO! Combined with the mixed media and cloth and armor, it all comes together for a very life-like look, as those of you who saw it in person at CIV know firsthand!

Watch for more information in the form of a behind-the-scenes article and new photos showing the different angles it can achieve with the head and gun arm. We have a long time before it ships, so we hope to present some really great content about this piece in the coming weeks and months! It really highlights the ambition of our Star Wars PF line thus far! :chew

certainly opens up new possibilities to the PF line that I thought impossible

The Production Blog has been updated with a behind-the-scenes look at how they went about harvesting the foam for the trooper body:

Just as long as it's all natural free range organic foam, I have no problem with it being used for the body.

And I would have never guessed that we would get something this large and awesome in the PF line. I wondered if a speeder would be done in 12" scale, and then they skip that and go straight for my favorite line of all. I can't wait to see this in person.
