If you guys dont mind me asking, What was wrong in the first place? Where they just full of BS, or did they like to start problems?

Along came this person called Crix.
Who might have had a mangina.
Crix started some crap and and tried to play 'survivor' SS Freaks version.
Crix was banned, Diva popped up and continued Crix' agenda.

Pretty good almost-rhyming there, Anzik.

I hope to have some updated pics up of Mr. and Mrs. Hannigan shortly. As it turns out, I apparently hate painting with a passion, so I've got a bottle-neck of unpainted sculpts.

That was a joke, btw. I got nothing but respect for Alexis Denisof.

I started another round of replaying Angel (just started season 2) so it was a good time to rework these. They're inching closer and closer to either "I'm happy with them" or "I'm so sick of them," it's time to finish/quit. They look better in hand, I can't get them to photograph well. They inevitably look flatter than they are.

Wesley - narrowed his head both ways, profile and face. Redid his upper lip.

Gunn - redid his mouth and nose.

All that's really left with Gunn is smoothening his skin texture a bit. I need to paint up Wes to see what more needs to be changed, but I hate painting so much, I fear it'll never get done.

Whoa! I just saw this july update with Gunn and Wes, Well I guess I can see Gunn first hand now at home. :)

But Wes, well, wow. He looks good, the one thing I did notice though is his lower face looks a bit chubby, Wes has quite a bony narrow face I think.

Binky please finish Wes and the sell us casts of him like you did with Gunn, I got my Gunn yesterday and I have not shut up about how great he is for one minute.

Another bumping because I'm keen to hear If you've managed to do anymore on Wes at all? Also how was that Gunn axe coming along? Are you still going to offer any for sale at all?

Yeah are you going to make any of those heads avialable. I would definately buy two willows. One for evil willow and one to replace, well to quote victor from the movie underworld "ABOMINATION" of a sideshow figure willow.

Nice work.

I went thru all the pages on this thread, Awsome work. I didn't buy the unvamped willow because it was just so awful. I would buy one if they looked this good!:D

Sorry to be so unreliable. I honestly don't have a lot of time to work on these, and I'm finding that if I can't string together at least 30 minutes to work on something, it's best not to start cause I'll try to do too much and become dissatisfied with the uneven results and drop it in disgust. Also, I hate taking pictures of stuff. It takes up so much time. Anyway...

An update:

Hubcap axe: The first try at a mold did not come out too well (too many bubbles). Rubber is showing it's age, but I'm going to give it another try, at least for the blade, this weekend (it will be a two-piece).

Heads: Here are the four the furthest along.

I fixed Wesley rather than starting from scratch as I thought I'd have to. I doubted I'd get far if I started a new one. Most of the damage was to his chin and I had to redo that and his upper lip, anyway. Still have a bit of work to do, but soon it will be time to paint which is the real acid test to see how much further to go or if it's worth finishing at all.

Comments/criticisms to improve the likenesses welcome.

They all look great, really good, and the Wesley head looks very promising.

If I were being honest though I would have to say that I think what lets it down is that the chin seems a little bit too narrow, which in turn is making the mouth too small, and rather 'slitty' somehow.

I know It's very difficult to get a good idea from a photo, but thats the first thing that came into my head when I saw it, and which I think is preventing it from looking 100% like Wesley.

May I ask If you have been offering up your sculpt up to your photographic reference? Did you blow up a profile image of a face on head shot of him and take caliper measurements from them to act as a guide? I find that helps tremendously.

Thanks. Yeah, I agree, Wesley's chin is a little too weak. I do work off photos and learned about caliper measurements for proportion in art school but it's been many years since I've been that disciplined. Usually I just use photo references at the start to get a feel, (under the heads is a poly sheet holder with some shots of ED in fact) then work some time without. Mimetic reproduction is not my forte, but stylized does not often work for these types of portraits (SS Willow and Faith are reminders of that LOL). I don't do the cutout and caliper thing, just because it's rare to get a square shot in the neutral expression I normally try for but referring back to the source material is never a bad idea. Thanks for the reminder. I'll dig up my Wesley reference sheets for the next set of adjustments.

Well I'm a very lazy sculptor, and so I highly recommend using a cut out profile to offer your sculpt against, as well as using calipers to measure with. You very quickly see which areas aren't working and cut out a whole load of messing around, that can often end up in a weak portrait.

See how you go. You may be surprised.

If you want any other photographic reference give us a heads up. I have tones. :D

Thank you. That's kind of you to say.

My rubber's turned, need to order more, but not being able to do that I had more time to work on the heads.

Tara-72.jpg

The Tara head is probably the furthest along but I realize many consider her at most a Willow accessory so I decided to prioritize Willow.

Willow-72.jpg

Willow will take a fair bit amount more so I am suspending the Faith and Anya heads until I finish these two. I am also stopping work on Wesley until I can paint the blank up and see what I need to focus on with it.

Bink, will these be offered for sale like Gunn was? If so I will definatly buy at least one of each, you painted Gunn sculpts were brilliant.

One thing though, I have to agree, Wesley's mouth looks a little off.
