Bink, will these be offered for sale like Gunn was? If so I will definatly buy at least one of each, you painted Gunn sculpts were brilliant.

One thing though, I have to agree, Wesley's mouth looks a little off.

Thanks, HL2. I'm going to handle these heads the same way I did Gunn (and the way I should have done Vampire Willow). I.e., finish sculpting the head, paint it, tweak it, repaint. Repeat as necessary. When it feels "finished" to me, I'll post pics and ask if anyone would be interested in buying a copy. At that point, I would need at least 5 fairly firm commitments to make making a mold worthwhile and the price reasonable for an amateur sculpt (which is what I do), which to me is $17 shipped for an unpainted head. The good news at that point is that from the time the mold is made, I can pretty much turn a paid order around within 2 days.

I am a buyer, too, and I admit I am fickle and demanding when it comes to portrait heads, especially if I'm going to fork over $25+ for an unpainted head. Honestly, from what I've seen, Whedonville collectors are not like other fandoms where commissions and prepays will work very well. There just isn't enough interest/commitment/deep pockets, not to mention consensus collectively speaking, that I believe a sculptor making the sculpt and showing the sculpt then soliciting buyers is the best process for us.

This is also conducive to workshop-type projects like mine, where I can post in-progress pictures and get feedback. No matter how critical I am of my work, it's only natural to become blind to alternatives, which is why I'm grateful for Sue's and your comments RE. Wesley. I have yet to paint it up to see how much more work it will need, but that's where I'm at with that one. Willow will probably be done well before Wesley.

The only problem I've found doing things this way is that aside from the possibility of a project funding itself, for me as a hobbyist I have no incentive to work on something unless I want to which is probably why the Tara head shot ahead of Wesley on my depth chart. Plus I've had other things going on.

Another couple of progress pic. Painting confirmed, Wesley still needs a lot of work. I am going to start from scratch on him. Willow's close(r), but I'm going to retry it. I hate the hair, and her eyes aren't big enough (look faintly Asian).

Oh nice. I think they show promise. The weakest ares on them both is below the nose line really. Willows top half is good, it's just the mouth that doesn't seem quite right.

Both sets of hair looks wonderful though.

OK, I had a few days off and was able to work a little more on Willow and Wesley. I have to repaint Willow so no new pics, but maybe this weekend. I did a little work on Wesley's mouth so here's an updated pic.

I put him on a Dragon slim body with a Toy Soldier heather grey suit. Like a lot of 1:6 suits, the fit is not the best especially around the shoulders. I have a Saturday Toys black suit but that one is tailored for a Hot Toys I think, with the extra wide shoulders and the barrel chest. Anyway, I used a Michael Chan G-4 slim body so I had to extend its legs but I think I went a little overboard and need to take him down about one scale inch, which should help with the pants which are just a little too short. Overall I think the Dragon slim body works best for Wesley. It also came in the Secret Service guy, Patrick, which I think is a 6 foot character (being American) so it probably would've worked better but the Michael Chan was the only one I had handy.

Here's a picture next to Angel (redressed) and my Gunn and VWillow.

That is VWillow not the regular I am working on, but it'll go on that body once done so VW is just placeholding for now.

I have another few days of vacation to burn (use it or lose it, my company's fiscal year ends in June) so hopefully updates will come more regularly in the next month.

Hey Binky!

They are coming along nicely, however Wesly does not look 100% right to me.

Latest Willow in-progress pics. Upper lip and mouth need some work. I think the chin has to be pushed back a little, too. I am probably going to do any edits on a spare bald head. Baby steps.

Oh very nicely done. My only crit would be that maybe the lips look a wee bit on the thin side.

Great work on Willow there Binky! Will you be offering copies like you did with Gunn?

Also how is Wesley coming along?

Another update on Willow.

I had something of an epiphany about Alyson Hannigan’s face a couple of weeks ago that has really helped me make some progress with the Dopplegangland Willow I’ve been working on and off on for the past 6 months: she has a pretty noticeable Simpsons upper lip. Her upper lip including the philtrum area overhangs her lower lip and chin, making her upper lip look thin facing front. So I took down the lower jaw and chin on the proto much more aggressively than I had in the past. Bingo! It seemed to work. Besides that, I redid the hair pretty much from scratch and shortened the nose. I still have to do some finishing work on the nostrils now that the nose got shorter, and have to refine the hair (texture's rough) and perhaps add some of the side strands to the right (Willow's right) then prep the entire surface for the final texture. AH’s face seemed to get progressively fuller as she aged on the show, so that by the 7th season her face looked a bit rounder especially around the cheeks and chin. This base head is more of a late-season shape, but the way her hair frames her face in DGL, I still think it works okay with a season 3 paint job.

While I was on a roll with Willow I finally reassembled Vampire Willow.

Vamp's taller due to the boots--redid them.

I'm really motivated to finish this Willow head and start working on a later season one so hopefully next week I can call this one done.
